We stayed at Villa Amor for a week, October 2012. We started in Delfin which is a one-bedroom room and is gorgeous, on the first level, with a fantastic view and high ceiling. Air conditioning worked great. We checked out on the date we had originally planned, but just didn't want to leave Sayulita!! We had another couple with us so we asked the hotel staff if there was a 2-bedroom available that night that we could all share. We ended up staying in the gorgeous Cinema with breathtaking views, great kitchen and living area, and a beautiful bathroom in the master bedroom. There was air conditioning in the two bedrooms (but not in the extra loft or living room/kitchen). There was a little pool at the entrance to the room which we loved to dip into after walking into town.

The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They even gave us a tour of some of the vacant rooms to help us decide where we'll stay the next time we visit! We'll definitely be back. What a great place! (Some of the rooms are newer than others, so ask them for a newer room if that's important to you.)

We LOVED our experience at Villa Amor but what's up with the hotel staff uniforms? They weren't very professional looking; it looked like the staff were in their pajamas!

bout us,,,and sorry you did not like the uniforms the front staff wear.

They are made for us,,,out of locally made Mexican fabric,,,they are cool and comfortable for the staff. We have other uniforms,,,we change off every so often,,,and perhaps you will like the more traditional suits worn in the Winter. Thank you again,,,Barbara

The villas at Villa Amor at confortable and have nice views of the ocean or jungle, but lots of them don't have AC (some of them not even ceiling fans).
What we found really disappointing was the service, the people working at the hotel are very clearly not happy doing what they do and it showed in the way they treated guests. We had 2 or 3 issues during the weekend and every time we approached the staff at the front desk we were told (quite rudely) that they couldn't help us, this was surprising considering the hotel isn't cheep and what we were asking were easy questions or simple requests.
Eating at the hotel is nearly imposible, on our first afternoon there we waited for our food for more than 2 hours, after asking a couple of times we were told that the kitchen was busy preparing for a wedding, we ended up leaving before the food came.
I would never go back to Villa Amor, they're a really rental houses (without real hotel service) at hotel prices.

Room tip: Make sure to check the room has AC or ceiling fans, do not pick an open room or "palapa", the mosquitoes are brutal.

What a shame this reviewer did not have as good an experience at Villa Amor as most of our guests definitely do. We do our very best to see all goes well but obviously an occasional guest finds us lacking. Most of our villas are air conditioned,,,and when a guest books this is normally discussed. Villas with aircon cost more per night,,,perhaps this guest unknowingly did not realize her error in choice of villa. I will review this with the reservations staff to verify the guest was informed.

Unfortunately the restaurant and its service is out of the control of the Management of Villa Amor. The restaurant is a private business, uses the name O, has its own website and ownershiop. We are unable to do anything at this time to encourage better service or even food quality. Fortunately the town of Sazyulita has become an international destination of quality talented individuals seeking a new site for their quality food experiences offerings and we encourage all our guests to sample the many fine choices in town. The restaurant next to Villa Amor,,,O,,,has without doubt the ultimate site...with spectacular ocean views,,,and we suggest a drink or coffee be taken there. I wish it had been better for this guest....and apologize that it was not.

My best friend and I just got back from Sayulita and had the most amazing vacation ever! This was largely in part because of the Villa Amor! From the moment we arrived till the day we left, we fell in love with the property, the rooms, the staff and all of the services the Villa Amor offers. There are so many positives to the Villa Amor:

- The Restaurant is fantastic...the guacamole and shrimp quesadillas are the best I've ever had
- The staff...I love the staff, especially Maribel who is the concierge...she is amazing and phenomenal. The housekeeping staff cleaned the rooms really well and the front desk staff were so nice and friendly. Everyone remembered our names!
- The services - We took advantage of the couples massage and renting kayaks and paddleboards. Everything was wonderful and excellent condition. The massages were perfect, tranquil and so relaxing.
- The rooms were huge! Large beds, spacious drawers, lots of seating, a safe, fresh water to drink everyday and a fantastic bathroom. We loved that all of the products in the bathroom were organic.
- Location is perfect...very close to two beaches and the main square.

Only thing we wished the Villa Amor had was a pool.

I cannot say enough great things about the Villa Amor! I definitely left a piece of my heart in Sayulita and I'm looking forward on visiting again. I'm even trying to convince my friend to get married at the Villa Amor!

Room tip: We stayed at the Del Fin which was very large. Perfect for 2 friends or a couple. The beautiful large windows was the best thing about this room...lots of sunshine!

I didn't really know what to expect when I arrived at Villa Amor with my fiancee for a 12 night stay but the hotel is really beautiful. The views are spectacular, the rooms are incredibly clean, the beds are huge, there's purified water delivered to your room every day, the staff are absolutely lovely and always have a smile and greeting for you. We stayed in Piedra, which was 127 steps up (!!!) so it kept us fit and kept the weight down after all the cheese and stodge we ate! But it definitely would have been a problem for someone older so you should probably check where exactly the villa you're booking is on their grounds before confirming (there's a little map on their website). We didn't have a pool which kind of annoyed me - I would really have liked to have access to one to cool down, the sea being the temperature of a warm bath during August! Some of the villas do have their own little pools I believe but there's no communal one.

The other thing was that breakfast was not included which I would have expected for the price. However, aside from that, the place really was amazing. I had a sneaky look at some of the other villas and some of the more expensive ones are really incredibly stunning. And the grounds were really well kept.

Overall, great place - would definitely recommend!

Room tip: Rooms higher up have better views but are a hell of a hike up the stairs!

HI,,,Thank you for your review of Villa Amo4r...and for re3cognizing all the hard work our staff does....th3e wonde3r of it all is how much pleasure they take in making your stay as happy as possible. I agree,,,Piedra is alot of steps...and I definitely suggest and instruct my reservation people to enquire if a guest is up for sucfh a hike....most are,,,I would not be! Fortunatelyt we have beautiful accomodations with as few as 3 steps....and many in the range of 8 steps. No pool!!! ugh,m,,true true true and tyyrue...and this is something we are defi8nitely working on....but since we are a group of condominiums,,,each villa owned prigvate...it takes alot of voting and scraqmbling to get the pool (already designed and paid for) approved and built!!!!!

We hope that within the year we can aded pictures of our gorgeous pool to the web,,,for now, there are 12 private pools that are for individual villa use,,,so guests should definitely ask for a pool when booking if this is important.

Again,,,thank you,,,and please come back to us!

We stayed at Villa Amor for a week. It was wonderful. From the moment of arrival to departure, the staff attend to your needs. We were greeted by name the moment we stepped from the taxi. Our luggage was taken to our room and all the room amenities were shown to us.

We stayed in the Brisa del Mar Villa. I was a but nervous as it was right on the small road but traffic was not too bad. Morning and evening traffic was a bit heavier but no problem. The doors to the room a fairly sound proof. The room had remote control air conditioning as well as a fan over the bed. We had a nice sofa and chairs with a small coffee table and a beautiful large ropero. The room had a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. You are also provided with fresh filtered water every day.

The room was clean and maid service was prompt. The Villa give you the opportunity of staying green and not having towels and linens changed every day. The bed was large, a bit firmer than I like but it was fine. Nice fluffly pillows. The bathroom was inclosed with a shower, sink and toliet.

Our room was about five steps away from a small overview area which had a wonderful view of Saulity and the bay. It was a nice place to relax at the end of the day or to sit and watch the local fishermen and pelicans. Sit still and you might be treated to an iguana or two walking across for a quick meal of the vegitation. Make sure you wear shoes though as there were a lot of hermit crabs walking around. Which were fun to watch as well.

We used the spa services on two seperate occassions. Can it just say FANTASTIC. Marisol and Esperanza were the best. It was a surreal experience with an open massage gazabo, (the drawn the linen drapes for privacy) with a palapa roof. We got full massages while listening to the rain, thunder and crashing surf. It was so good we went back the second day.

The walk into town is not bad at all. You can either walk along the beach or take the road. We had a lot of fun talking to the local residents, everyone is very friendly.

The only bad thing that happened was we forgot our flipflops on the steps outside our room. They were gone the next morning. Wasn't a big deal but don't leave things outside.

We will be back.

Room tip: The higher villas have great views but are a bit of a climb up the hill. We enjoyed Brisa del Mar, great view without the climb.
