Situated in the historic old jail in Mijas Pueblo, excellent tostadas with freshly chopped up tomato, garlic and ginger in olive oil on a superb brown seeded roll and a cafe con leche - very reasonable - around €3 - delicious.
You can sit inside the jail with all its memories or sit outside and watch daily life in Mijas.
A bohemian atmosphere and also near Mijas indoor fruit, fish and veg market.

Parking in the newish multi storey car park in s €1 per day and right beneath the square. If this is full, turn left immediately after the car park and the mountain road bends right where you can park alongside the cliff for free. Just have to squeeze!

The donkeys are stationed from here and it’s good to orient yourself by going for a 20 min walk around the centre initially. €15 for 1donkey ride or €20 for a carriage (2 adults plus child).

The market had some nice bits on it and not all the usual tat.

Go to the hermitage right opposite and enjoy the views from its edge, too.

Whether you are in a hotel here, a day trip in your own car or a coach tour, this will be your first stop in Mijas. A small selection of shops aimed squarely at the tourist, a few bars and eateries with ample seating to just take in the square.

There are occasional markets as well as traditional singing and flamenco on the band stand which are always popular.

Also there's the donkey taxi, just don't do it, as nice as the Spanish are, they treat their animals horribly, especially horrible when you see a fat tourist sat on these poor animals.

It’s taken a year or so but it’s nice now it’s done with its big open expanse, a long fountain with Mijas embedded under the water flow and mainly leather shops around.

This is a lovely beginning to a walking tour of Mijas. Straight from the car park you are in the square where you can get a horse drawn tour if you wish. There are lots of interesting shops and also a chocolate manufacturer and shop which is well worth a visit. A good start to a tour of Mijas.
