The second floor gives a chronological overview of the county's history while the first floor has subject area displays such as local lumber mills, transportation and local businesses.
We enjoy any kind of museum and like to read every piece of information wherever we go. We spent a solid 2 hours at this museum and could have used more time. We enjoyed every bit of it! The building itself was a piece of the history, the timeline was thorough and well-done, and the artifacts were plentiful and really interesting. There were sections that even children could physically explore and enjoy, though we were kid-less on this trip. The $5 admission was well worth the visit. There was even a very nice gift shop. We were amazed at the high quality experience of this small town museum at such a great value. Definitely the best small museum we've ever been to.
Many good exhibits on Winona history. Emphasis on river life. Volunteers will help you research specific interest.
This historical society is a treasure trove of local historical data and artifacts. What adds to the enjoyment was the plethora of information shared by conversing with the volunteers that man the museum. Don't just read and observe. Interact with the staff.
Lots of Winona and area history in here. We never knew this place was here. Great place for young and old. Self guided tour
We enjoyed the museum on a Monday and found it to be an hour and a half well spent. Tickets only $5 each.
