Okay.
This isn't a one off review.
I've been to Alibob's at Cairn O' Mhor winery quite a few times in recent months and I have to say they are absolutely consistent.
The food, service and ambience are cracking and I've been known to cycle back home from there with both goodies from the cafe, and the winery shop (the cider box is fabulous), on my back.
On each of my visits I've been treated to excellent and cheerful service as my food is ordered and served. The food is something else. You really need to try the haggis and oak smoked cheddar on a toasted ciabata roll coupled to their homemade coleslaw. The range and style of soups they do is astonishing and of the four varieties I've tried I've have never been disappointed. Hot, tasty and filling. Perfect for us ravenous cyclists.
When I took my wife their for lunch (she's a really finicky foodie) she was the most complimentary I've ever heard her. She had the hunger buster roast beef sandwich on one visit and the baked potato and tuna on another. Both apparently easy dishes to do but very difficult to do just right. They managed!! She was one happy bunny (made my life easier too!!).
So, is it worth stopping off for? Oh yes, yes, yes, but preferably not when I'm there please.
I want to preserve my own little piece of culinary heaven and keep it to myself!
