Hotel Nichols was the absolute best choice to stay in South Haven. It has the charm of a small town, Bed and Breakfast, located in the heart of town. Every morning we enjoyed a complimentary, delicious hot served breakfast. During the weekends in the summer, there is an incredible happy hour with wine and charcuterie + cheese boards from 5-7 pm. Our room was comfortable and the perfect size. We loved the history of the building and were able to hop to anywhere we wanted to go and swing back to our room before heading out for the evening. It’s about a 12 minute walk to South public beach and 18 minute walk to North public beaches. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the wonderful people that work at the hotel. We enjoyed many a good conversation with them during our stay - they made us feel like family. Whether it’s a couples weekend or a family trip to the beach, this is your spot. Thanks for everything! We will be back!!

You know it’s going to be a good visit when the owner and staff comes and hangs at Friday night happy hour to tell you the history of the beautiful space you’re staying in! Scott, Megan, Eve and staff- thank you for a perfect getaway for our first trip to SoHa! Great location to park the car and forget about it while you’re there and walk everywhere.

Room tip: Easy to find parking, walkable to pretty much anything you could need

While it’s an old hotel and duly noted reviews did not mention that this hotel feels worn and needs updating.
For the price this hotel is simply not worth it.
I would have paid more if they kept it up to date. From the dirty stair runner up to the 2nd floor this hotel needs a make over.
Keep it charm but update it-

Loved the Nichols...For the people that love cookie cutter hotels like the Hyatt, this is not the place for you. The service was excellent. The young women that worked there DID EVERYTHING, checked you in, served your breakfast, did housekeeping, solved problems, help you park your bike, etc etc etc. There were always busy but never seemed hurried or rushed. The location is perfect you can walk every where. The rooms are not big but who cares what are you doing in your room on vacation??
The breakfast that is included in your stay was great. I suggest the breakfast burrito You can eat inside or out by the street or nice courtyard on the side of hotel......It was the first time we took our dog on vacation. Very convenient first floor rooms for guests with pets..They dont hammer you for a pet charge .
Great hotel will definitely come back!!

I was so pleasantly surprised by my stay. My husband and I were on the fence where to stay because we hadn't been to the area in over 10 years. So after hours of searching the web and reading all the reviews and with a grain of Salt decided on the Nichols. Well we are the winner winner chicken dinner. We arrived at our hotel and were promptly checked in and the young lady couldn't have been more pleasant. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated without compromise to the Historic Setting. The hotel was quiet and the beds super comfy. We were served breakfast ( we stayed two) daily. We sat outside in the beautiful harbor area and after choosing from 6 fresh cooked choices, we enjoyed hot coffee before being served hot and tasty breakfast. We both chose the Brioche French toast and bacon w fresh fruit day 1, and Breakfast Burrito, bacon and Fruit day 2. The food was great and served fast. We also heard that in the evening they have hot appetizers and beer and wine but we never missed a sunset so we didn't enjoy that. We also had bikes with us and instead of having to lock them back on the truck daily they kindly offered to have us leave them in there locked garage. The hotel is in walking distance to literally everything. Beach, lighthouse, many restaurant and tons of shopping. We could sit out on the patio nightly and enjoy every minute of our vacation. We will definitely be Back. GREAT SERVICE HOTEL NICHOLS. THANK YOU
