Nepal is unforgettable! My husband & I recently did the Langtang valley trek in mid March with Nepal Eco Adventure. This is our 2nd trek with the same company. Due to the good experience from our first trek, we requested for the same guide Ram (Jirel Hukum) and friendly porter, Ratna.
Langtang Valley, which was affected most by the 2015 earthquake is now opened to trekkers. Tea houses are gradually being built to cater to the growing number of trekkers. It is a good time to go Langtang now as one can help support the locals.
We did the 6 day trek across Langtang Valley. It was awesome and memorable. Do not let the drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi deter you from doing this trek! Before we decided on this trek, we heard of horror stories about buses falling off the cliff and we almost changed our minds. Finally, we decided to pay a bit more and opted to take the private jeep to the trailhead.
As it turns out, taking the private jeep was an incredible experience by itself, thanks to our competent driver Shree D. Not only was he skilful in maneuvering tight corners and narrow mountain roads, he is also a great singer and entertained us all the way from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi & back. He introduced us to some popular Nepali songs and we couldn't stop listening to them even when we got home!
Langtang valley and its National Park offer amazing views and diverse landscapes. We trekked through fallen rocks, loose stones, boulders, gravel paths, snow, rain, river, bridges, villages, mani walls, stupas and along the way we were greeted by Nepal gray langur monkeys, deers, goat, mules, horses, donkeys and yaks.
March is a great time to trek as we get to experience all four seasons in one trek; sun, rain, snow & wind although the nights may sometimes be unbearably cold and we have to go without shower during the trek as there was no running water at some higher altitude teahouses as pipes were frozen. All these inconveniences is nothing when compared to the breathtaking views of the trek during this season. It is also less crowded and we were the only guests in certain teahouses.
We highly recommend our guide Ram from Nepal Eco Adventure. He is very experienced, friendly and professional & takes really nice candid photos. We couldn't be happier! We will definitely be back in Nepal again soon!
