“Male temple”
Review of Bhairavnath Temple

Bhairavnath Temple
Reviewed 14 August 2017

This is apparently the "male temple" in the square and does very much get overshadowed by it's much bigger next door neighbour. It is very beautiful in it's own right though and the carvings are very intricate.

The carving on the big stones were so living that it seems they would speak and walk around. I really enjoyed visiting this place. Recommended for the refreshments and sight seeing.

This temple is located in Bhaktapur’s Taumadhi Square with intricate wood carvings on the windows and struts and is dedicated to Bhairav, the incarnation of Shiva.

This temple is right next to the Nyatapola Temple and there are plenty of nearby restaurants. Be aware of walking around the square since motorbikes drive through frequently. I would also recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen while walking about.
