Bad experience

We’ve stayed at many Homewood Suites by Hilton properties, but our recent experience at the Largo, MD location was deeply disappointing. We stopped here for one night to rest on our way home from Florida, but the condition of our suite was unacceptable.
While the beds were made, it seemed that was the only effort from housekeeping. The floors were filthy—so much so that we couldn’t walk barefoot. Basic amenities like shower soap, tissues, and extra bed linens were not restocked. The furniture was outdated and stained, and to make matters worse, we discovered trash under the bedroom chair. It was clear the room had not been properly cleaned or maintained. Even the couch in the lobby was ripped, which set the tone for the lack of care throughout the property.
We were exhausted and managed to take a quick shower and get some sleep, but we chose to skip breakfast entirely—we simply couldn’t trust the food hygiene after seeing the state of the room.
While we don’t expect luxury, cleanliness and basic upkeep should be standard—especially given the rates this hotel charges. After reading other reviews, it’s evident that cleanliness is a recurring problem at this location. Hilton should address these issues immediately with stricter housekeeping protocols and better maintenance oversight.
Sadly, we cannot recommend this property to anyone.

So - there are wildly varying reviews on this property. I'm sorry there are those that had a bad experience, but mine was perfect. To start, I was checked in at the front desk by Scott who was a kind and professional employee. This is something that has been slowly degrading at all hotels over time, but Scott is the type of employee that should be commended. He set me up with a digital key the app (which worked throughout my 3 nights), provided an Honors gift and all the information I needed for the property. My room was a king studio and it was clean and in perfect working condition. There was no bugs, mold, dirt, rips, tears, etc. The bed was comfortable and the linens clean, no stains. The kitchen appliances were all in good order, there was silverware, cups, etc. and other kitchen items (if needed). The Internet and cable worked perfectly, no issues at all. There was a decent desk chair for work with adjustable seat height (but no arm rests). I needed to print a few documents and the property business center had been removed. So Scott had me email my PDFs to the front desk email address and he printed those for me - again, he was very helpful and kind. I also used the fitness center which was one of the better ones I've seen for a "non-luxury"property. There were three treadmills, two ellipticals, two bikes, kettle bells, a "plyo box", yoga/stretching mat and a full weight center with cables, etc. The room was clean with absolutely no odor and towels were available. The breakfast was typical for a Homewood, reliable items to certainly satisfy at the start of the day. I was there for the Wednesday evening manager's reception - there was salad, fruit/cheese and a couple of items, plus a dessert. Again, what would be expected at this point. Across the busy road is basically every type of store/food you could need (Wegmans, CFA, Cava, etc etc). If the weather was nicer I would have walked outside - the business park area has extensive sidewalks. I expect to have work in this area over the next several months and this will be my choice of property, if available.

This is the WORST Homewood Suites we have encountered in our 20+ years as Gold-level Hilton Honors members!
First, they downgraded us to an accessible one-room studio instead of the two-room accessible suite we had reserved online, checked into, AND were charged for.
Second, the mechanical room below ours had a defective water pump that erupted with a jackhammer-like sound every 20 minutes during throughout the two nights and three days of our stay. (I'm posting videos as a warning to others.)
Third, the manager refused to honor their 100% Suite Assurance guarantee because we were too exhausted to pack our bags and switch to a different one-room studio for a few hours sleep on the second night (we only sought to invoke it for the first night - we managed to sleep through the second night thanks to playing white noise from YouTube on the TV, my daughter's Air Pods, and simple fatigue from the weekend's wrestling tournament). Moreover, we didn't want to burden housekeeping with a second room to clean for only a few-hour stay.
The fact that the hotel has only one three-wheeled luggage cart that was rarely available was also a deterrent to relocating. The hotel doesn't appear to have a four-wheeled valet cart or a second three-wheeled cart despite searching all four floors, so beware if you have luggage that you need to carry to your room.
Finally, the front desk staff needs to learn to be more attentive to their guests. Calls to the local number before our arrival were rolling over to an off-site call center, and calls to Guest Services via the bedside phone after we checked in were unanswered, along with a text message asking when the jackhammer-like noise from below would be resolved.
Instead of honoring Homewood's Suite Assurance guarantee for the first night, or as an alternative, offering us a number of HHONORS points equivalent to the 75K/night that they charge for a Suite, the manager offered an insulting 20K.
Homewood Suite Largo's only saving grace is the housekeeping and breakfast staff, which salvaged the hotel from an otherwise zero-star rating. One would have expected better treatment for a Hilton Gold-level member (which I never mentioned to the front desk staff and which they seem to have been unaware of, as they didn't provide the usual amenities at check-in and we were too exhausted to ask for them).
I hope the management has read this review and has improved their maintenance and adopted a customer-service orientation before other travelers find themselves trapped in a pre-paid reservation.

Room tip: The breakfasts are great - two waffle makers to minimize waiting, and several breakfast protein options (eggs and sausage most mornings.

We stayed at this hotel for a nearby local event. From the first minute, everything was excellent. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful and welcoming. When I told him that we really wanted a quiet room, he assured us he would place us appropriately. He was right -- we had a terrific night's sleep!
The hotel has excellent rooms; we had a suite with a sitting area and kitchen. The furnishings looked new, and everything worked well. The bathroom had a roomy shower and fluffy towels.
Breakfast was pretty standard, with a well-appointed roomy seating area. Food was plentiful and well-prepared.
This hotel is not in the immediate location of Washington, DC, but I intend to stay there the next time we go to DC. It is well worth the extra travel time to the train station.

All the staff at the front desk were first class! I stayed for 9 days and it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in a long time. Being military retired I have stayed in numerous but this location was top 10 I would highly recommend if you’re going to be in this area.

This place is disgusting and management/owners DO NOT CARE. The room smelled, stains present in multiple place and things falling apart. Found underwear behind the disgusting couch. The would not refund me and charged me for one night over $200 (cowards) so I worked with Hilton Corporate to get my money back for a whole 90 minute stay. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL! It is gross!
