My wife and I were looking for something simple in order to get away for the week. We live relatively close by but would imagine that coming from the nearest airport would be comparable. We were in need of someplace where we could be comfortable doing nothing at all but had the option for day trips if needed. The Inn is beautifully located on the coast with a wonderful view of the ocean. We spent hours sitting on the deck reading and hours in the Inn's beautiful living room. Both places were more than comfortable and above and beyond what we were expecting. We were fortunate enough to be pretty much the only ones in the Inn for the week but we would imagine that with others around the experience would be just as enjoyable.

The Innkeepers, Jo and Mike, were quite possibly the best experience of the week. Mike makes the best eggs that I have ever had. True story. Breakfast each morning was delicious and what I would expect to get at a higher end restaurant. We stayed before the Inn was in full season, so we did not get to experience the full restaurant for dinner.

We have already told many of our friends about our wonderful week and plan on going back as soon as we can!

It was great having you two here!! I'm glad you were able to relax and recharge. Traveling on the off- and shoulder-seasons definitely has the benefit of a nice, quiet atmosphere. Thank YOU for showing us the art of relaxation :)

We recently spent a night at Craignair Inn with friends visiting from England. The Inn is on the water and the views from the dining room are spectacular. The owners, Mike and Joanne are friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and the very spacious living room, complete with loads of books and games, was a perfect gathering place. We will definitely stay at the Inn again.

Room Tip: Rooms with ocean view are the best!

Our room was very clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable. I have read a few other reviews and frankly, I can't see why anyone would have anything negative to say. Some complained about a shared bath...it is written on the site which rooms have this. Get a room with a private bath or don't complain! You do have a choice and it is clearly stated. Yes it is a fairly old Inn...that's part of the charm. How can you complain when you are in such a beautiful location. There is nothing to complain about here, it is clean and lovely. Breakfast was wonderful and the owners are very nice. Their cute little dog, Mimi, was also very friendly. I would definitely stay here again. I gave it 5 stars...for the price, location, comfort and cleanliness etc. It's not the Park Plaza...but who wants to stay there??? Give me a quaint beautiful room on the coast any day, and not a cookie cutter room with hallways full of arrogance and opulence! Every room is different with it's own charm. Great views and wonderful service!

Room Tip: Room 6 is great. Comfortable bed and good view. Smallish...but we weren't there to dance! Very nice and had no problem with anything.

Wow! Thank you for "keeping it real" and saying how much you enjoyed the unique qualities and charm of our Inn...very true, we aren't the Park Plaza, it is an old building off the beaten path, and we do have a few bedrooms with shared bathrooms. Thank you for those reminders to our future guests--they were some of the reasons we were drawn to make our lives and our livelihood here. It's hard not to take it personally when a guest has expectations different from what we offer and it results in a negative review. We try very hard to give a true representation of the inn and our surroundings on our website.
Thanks for sharing that adorable picture of MiMi!!
Hope to see you again soon, Joanne and Michael

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast with shared bathrooms. I can say we won't do that again. Also the sound insulation in this inn is not great and you can pretty much hear everything the other guests are doing and saying. Bed wasn't comfortable. Hosts were very nice. Breakfast was delicious although restaurant was closed for the season and we had to drive to another town for dinner. Very quiet and isolated setting but very beautiful.

Room Tip: definitely pay for a room with a private bath

Thank you for your review! I'm sorry if you had an unpleasant experience with the shared bathrooms--I wasn't aware of an incident or problem, so I'm guessing it was just the that you weren't accustomed to it. While we do have some rooms with shared bathrooms, the majority of them have private bathrooms. They are all well-labeled on our website and third-party reservation sites.
We are glad you enjoyed breakfast and hope you'll be able to visit us again during the high season when we are able to have our restaurant open for dinner. ~Joanne and Michael
