These donuts are worth waiting in line for, and you will - standing outside on the Portland sidewalk with plenty of others. So, yes, I admit it, we bought a dozen. You would too. How do you decide between Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, Maple Bacon (YES!), Coffee Cake, Blueberry Lemonade? Well, you don't. You enjoy at least one of each.

This potato based toasted coconut donut was amazing. Very flavorful and the best part...not too sweet. It was just right. Some donut establishments top their donuts with extremely sweet toppings and that masks the taste of the actual donut. Holy Donut does not do that. They combine the right amount of sweetness in the topping so you can still taste the actual donut. VERY good.

One of Portland's favorite stopping points, this place has lots of great hand-cut donuts that are made with fresh, mostly local ingredients. The not-so-secret ingredient is, surprisingly, potato, which gives the donuts a great texture and moisture. They usually have 20 or so flavors including the usual, but also maple, pomegranate, Allen's Coffee Brandy (Maine's best selling liquor), maple bacon, and triple berry. Yum!

Came here with friends while walking down the street. I am not a donut lover but my friend wanted a snack and I was looking for coffee. I was enticed by the sweet potato ginger donut and tried it. It was delicious - spongy and tasty but not overly sweet. Nice stop.

The donuts are worth the 2 hour drive from NH. We were staying in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and decided to drive to Portland for three things, and Holy Donut was one of them. Their potato donuts taste like no other ones. My husband enjoyed the Pomegranate glazed and I had a lemonade berry with a cup of tea. Of course we took a six pack to go. ( Maple, berry, and lemon. A must if you are near Portland
