Lovely spot. The Korma dishes, Saag Paneer, Garlic Breads, ALL breads really really delicious. Lamb Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala good. we missed that some of our favorite appetizers (Banana Pakora and livers) weren't on the menu, and subbed in their sampler - meh. Service a bit cold, but efficient. We'll be back.

My husband and I were enjoying a weekend in Brunswick and decided to try Bombay Mahal based on recommendations of this site. We were welcomed with a smile and seated immediately at a nice window table. We our server seemed not to be in a happy place. He took our order and when our bottle of wine arrived, he poured the two glasses and left the bottle directly between us, not bothering to position it in the middle of the table. A minor error, but he seemed to be either clueless or surly for the rest of our meal. The food was very good, not exceptional, but very good. Our entrees were quite bland, a comment raised by others about this restaurant. This establishment needs a makeover: it's drab and strangely lacking in atmosphere, even though there were lots of Indian treasurers throughout the room. The restaurant was almost empty on a Friday evening when other nearby places were packed. Not surprised. We probably would go there again, as the food was good and the prices were reasonable. However a more friendly server and a more updated restaurant would have raised our rating one notch to very good.

We read some good reviews on Trip Advisor so walked down from the Brunswick Tavern on a perfect evening past the park where a free concert was starting. The Indian food was excellent (We lived in India for four years), service was good, and tables far enough apart you didn't have to hear your neighbor's conversation. I had the fish curry and she had the lamb Rogan Ghosh (I think). My fish, rice and sauces were perfect. Her lamb was a bit generic meaty and a few years past being a lamb! But generally quite tasty. The restaurant was a few degrees warmer than I like. But it's all part of the Indian experience for those who know India! The life story of the owners is quite interesting too. As they say, who would have thought they'd find their way to Brunswick Maine. But I'm glad they, and I, did!

How unexpected--we went here only because it was pouring rain and we found a parking spot in front. But when we are here next, we will go on purpose. We both love Indian food, but so much of it tastes inauthentic, with similar spicing for multiple dishes. We sampled only three (it was lunch...) and the flavors were subtle and distinct. The Mango Lassi was also fresh and delicious. The place was busy -- A wonderful find that locals already knew about.
