Superb dinner at the hotel. We all had the home made pies and they were incredible! This is a must for anyone doing the Otago Central Rail Trail! Plus superb friendly service and excellent Pinot Noir. Try the Lindis River Pinot.

A classic Kiwi pub which made sure we never went hungry while we were cycling the Rail Trail. The hotel is obviously the heart of the community and is well worth supporting. Just beware - meal sizes are designed for farmers out labouring for the day; we could comfortably have shared a pie between us! And it is worth having the pies - they are genuinely excellent. Due to a lack of Trail options, we also had the pub make up our lunches for the following day and that was brilliant - reasonably priced and again, seriously generous. Also noted a very decent gin and whisky selection.

We had heard about the pies from a friend and they were even better than we expected.

It was a miserable rainy day for us as we were doing the Otago rail trail and we stopped here for lunch - had a few beers and I had the chicken and chorizo pie and my husband the pulled beef and cheddar - they were amazing.

Lovely pub, lots of seating, warm and very welcoming - worth going out of your way to visit - just to have a pie!!

Stopped off from the rail trail in the morning for a coffee and it was the best coffee I've had in the South Island. Lovely friendly staff make the place welcoming.

We came back for dinner and had the best pies I've ever tasted. The beef and aged cheddar pie was outstanding. Staff work really hard here and are super helpful. Definite must-stop on the trail.

Had an excellent dinner. Range of meals - good value. Visited for a morning tea stop with fresh muffins straight out of the oven. Good natured staff and patrons. Family orientated and friendly. Made everyone feel welcome
