Pilar picked us up as promised and drove us to her casa rural. Our room was beautiful, quaint, and very comfortable. We washed out a few clothes and hung them on her clothesline. The grounds were beautiful - just the place to read, or journal, or catch a cat nap. We even had our own wake up call, with the resident rooster calling us to "rise and shine." But the food - oh my gosh -- the food and wine at dinner, the food at breakfast -- was exquisite.

One of the best places to stay while walking the Camino. Beautiful rooms and grounds with extremely nice people and fabulous food. Pilar was a wonderful hostess. We would highly recommend casa Roan! Thanks Paul at Walks in Spain!!!

8 km from the town is this gem of a hotel in the rural area. Pilar the hotelier will pick u up if u arrange in advance and drop u back along the camino de santiago trail .
Rooms r modern and comfy in stone and wood farmhouse. Food is great. Not much English spoken but nothing Google translate can't bridge. V obliging hosts. Of the 6 hotels we stayed in on our week long camino trek that included a 17th c castle and 18th c convent this was my favourite for picturesque surroundings, comfort and good food and friendliness

Casa Roan is sumptuous, the most elegant lodging we had on the Camino de Santiago and one of my all-time favorite hotels. I half-expected to see movie stars and royalty among the guests.
The hotel is on an old farm that has been beautifully renovated into a luxurious hotel. It is comprised of old stone buildings with rooms created out of odd spaces in the ancient buildings; our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. It was a corner room that looked out over a beautiful vista in one direction and spreading tree laden with chestnuts in the other. In the late afternoon an elderly couple were under the tree, chatting while the woman swept up chestnuts with a broom made of twigs.
The outdoor public spaces are decorated with old farm tools and equipment. Guests can sit outdoors and socialize while enjoying a drink. There is an indoor lounge also, which was empty except for me for a few hours, quiet and relaxing. The grounds feature beautiful flowers, baskets of chestnuts, places to wander and explore. You are way out in the country, no places nearby to eat or shop.
Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Plenty of food, exquisitely prepared.
Casa Roan is 8 km off the Camino. You call the hotel from a nearby bar along the Camino, order a glass of wine, watch other pilgrims walking by, then in a little while you are picked up and driven to this delightful country house hotel. The next morning we were dropped off a little farther along the Camino, and off you go. Wonderful place, wonderful memories.
Stay here.

Such a surprise on the Camino!
Five Star rooms and dining
Highly recommend this renovated 5* Gem of a hotel
After an exhausting day on the Camino, your hosts will collect you and return you to the Camino the next morning so you can walk off the yummy calories!
