The surroundings are quite plain, nothing fancy, and there is a bit of inconvenience in carrying luggage up to the 2nd floor without an elevator. However. we had a thoroughly enjoyable two night stay. This is largely due to the friendliness, hospitality, and attention to detail by the staff who I believe consisted largely of the family who owns the hotel. This type of service is not always present at larger
more impersonal places.
Moreover, the food was excellent, also nothing fancy but good homestyle cooking.
I can particularly recommend both the salmon and meatballs. We ate a great deal of salmon during our tour of Scandinavia, and my wife felt that this place had the best of the lot, including many places that were considerably more expensive.
I highly recommend the Jostedal Hotel for anybody visiting the Nigardsbreen glacier.

Decent hotel very close to the glaciers and the visitor center. The room was spacious enough and clean. On-site restaurant was nice after a long day out on the glacier. Staff is very friendly!

There were very few vegan options on the menue, something that can be improved. Hotel is a bit on the pricey side for what you get.

The room was small but very clean and tidy. Unfortately for us, we were right above the dining patio. After a long day of travel we attempted to turn in early, but the noise right out our window was pretty loud. Cars in and out of the parking lot, many tables eating and chatting away..some very loud. By 11PM it was quiet and we were able to sleep. For this reason, could not give excellent rating. The breakfast had a wide variety..and was very good. Service by the ladies was very good. We had pizza for dinner and was pretty good

It is a nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful host. Room was okay. I would not recommend it to people who prefer a bath, since all rooms have showers. The hotel has an own restaurant and living room. Well done!!!

Liked:
Location was excellent for National Park (we were booked on glacier kayak & hike)
Quick check in and out
Very friendly and helpful staff
Comfortable beds
Amenities fine for short, basic stay
Continental breakfast was good

Disliked:
Room smelt a bit like a hamster cage!
Dinner (pork and meatballs) was pretty awful (I usually hate doing so but I’d suggest sticking to something safer and cheaper like the pizzas which looked like a much better option)

Overall would recommend for a short stay if you mostly want good access to the National Park
