Openly condescending and hostile toward people of disability. This is not a hotel!

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 14, 2022
First off, there is no parking for people with disabilities. See photos. Then, there is no signage indicating the location of the “lobby” (when entering from the parking lot). Expressed my displeasure with the hotel manager who ran the desk when I eventually found the lobby 15 minutes later via crutches. She made a snide comment when I commented on the lack of handicapped parking. She then assigned me to room 431, which is the room FARTHEST from the elevator on the hotel floor. I then had to trek back to reception, where they magically found me perhaps the one accessible room (404). When reserving the room, I informed the hotel that I had limited mobility due to crutches. Received email confirmation that they could accommodate me. They did not. Far from it. When I checked out, one hotel employee, let the door slam on me as I struggled with luggage when leaving. The only 2 employees who were actually helpful were Henderson, who arranged a luggage trolly and should be managing the hotel, and Andrew, who was a health club employee who should be managing the operation.

All this for $400. This has no business pretending to be a hotel. And if I owned this hotel, I would fire the manager.

I'd give this place 10 stars if i could. The rooms were nicely furnished with moderns décor. The beds were pretty comfy had plenty of room in the room. We also had a nice very of the city. Check in was flawless and we were told to use any of the gym facilities. we immediately went to a spin class. My wife and i had never done a spin class so we took the opportunity to get in a ride. It was a neat experience. The next day we got up and went to the gym and did more of our own CrossFit style workout. The place had all the things you could possibly need for such a workout. it was really nice to have everything right there. My wife spent some time at the spa where she got to relax and enjoy a nice massage.

Terrible experience. We booked a hotel not a stay in a fitness club. The hotel reception has the looks, feel and smell of an entry hall to a public swim hall. The bar and restaurant on the second floor is busy with sweaty people relaxing after their workout. Glad we found a nice bar 2 miles away for dinner. No included breakfast either. Parking garage drew us here with our classic car, but it is frequented by all fitness club members so it’s semi public. Only positive was the room.

Thank you for your feedback. While we appreciate you choosing Hotel at Midtown as your Chicago destination we must say that transparency regarding our hotel is clear on every website we are currently listed in order to truly communicate that hotel is not a standard accommodation but a property designed for guests who don't enjoy basic hotel amenities but sees full value of Luxury Fitness Club they have full access to. Parking garage is a 6 floor, gated and secured with cameras location, as most garages parking privacy cannot be guaranteed while availability is always there, most if not all hotels in Chicago has issues with parking availability while our hotel supplies more than sufficient amount of. We apologize for not meeting your expectations but it seems as if your expectations were for standard hotel which our isn't.

Oh man. this place is great if you are into working out or a bored housewife who plays tennis every day. but if you need a hotel its a bust. The rooms are fine hut there are ZERO amenities. No restaurant at night. No bar. And half cleaned rooms --ick. Staff are rude and inexperienced. When we requested a car service they said call an uber--duh. There are so many better choices in Chicago. I've been coming to this great city for 20 years but wont be back here any time soon. Colleagues loved the Hoxton. I would stay there.

Dera londongal12,
So sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. Our restaurant will be open for dinner service in the next few weeks. Our rooms are cleaned upon request for multiple night stays. Please let me know if there are any interactions I can look into regarding staff.
We have found that taxis in the city have been unreliable as of late and ride shares such as Uber or Lyft are the best method for those who don't have a car.
We hope that as more of our amenities become available in the future, we will be able to see you at the Hotel at Midtown again.
Sincerely,
Bryan Freund, Customer Experience Manager

. Parking is free. Staff is.great. Hotel is modern and super clean. I would not say here again due to excessive noise.from amplified exercise class starting 8am. At 1 am we could hear the conversation clearly and loudly through the closed room next door and sounds from above not sure from what. If you get up early and want to exercise in superb facilities and put on headphones or ear plugs to sleep you will love this hotel. Good hotel coffee. Sit down food area closed due to COVID but nice snack bar available. Desk took off my resort fee when I complained about the class noise. I should have done my research better.

The hotel attempted to charge me a 2nd night, and we were unable to make reservations with anywhere close to the same opportunity as regular members. The staff was rude. Additionally, the hotel allowed a 100+ person party until 4 a.m. when fights broke out and police arrive. I hope you have better luck :(
