Health clun pretending to be hotel

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 9, 2021
Oh man. this place is great if you are into working out or a bored housewife who plays tennis every day. but if you need a hotel its a bust. The rooms are fine hut there are ZERO amenities. No restaurant at night. No bar. And half cleaned rooms --ick. Staff are rude and inexperienced. When we requested a car service they said call an uber--duh. There are so many better choices in Chicago. I've been coming to this great city for 20 years but wont be back here any time soon. Colleagues loved the Hoxton. I would stay there.

Dera londongal12,
So sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. Our restaurant will be open for dinner service in the next few weeks. Our rooms are cleaned upon request for multiple night stays. Please let me know if there are any interactions I can look into regarding staff.
We have found that taxis in the city have been unreliable as of late and ride shares such as Uber or Lyft are the best method for those who don't have a car.
We hope that as more of our amenities become available in the future, we will be able to see you at the Hotel at Midtown again.
Sincerely,
Bryan Freund, Customer Experience Manager

. Parking is free. Staff is.great. Hotel is modern and super clean. I would not say here again due to excessive noise.from amplified exercise class starting 8am. At 1 am we could hear the conversation clearly and loudly through the closed room next door and sounds from above not sure from what. If you get up early and want to exercise in superb facilities and put on headphones or ear plugs to sleep you will love this hotel. Good hotel coffee. Sit down food area closed due to COVID but nice snack bar available. Desk took off my resort fee when I complained about the class noise. I should have done my research better.

The hotel attempted to charge me a 2nd night, and we were unable to make reservations with anywhere close to the same opportunity as regular members. The staff was rude. Additionally, the hotel allowed a 100+ person party until 4 a.m. when fights broke out and police arrive. I hope you have better luck :(

I rate this hotel as a three star but know that it has very good parts and not so good. Let’s start with the pros:

Clean, modern, great fitness center (this is atop an athletic club). Both breakfast and lunch menus and food were good, healthy options. Bar has a sufficient choice for everyone. It was wintertime so we didn’t use the outdoor pool, but I suspect it is fun. While not in a tourist area, it is in a good location if you need to stop by a store to pick up something you need or forgot. Staff were friendly without exception. Rooms have ample space and everything you need. The rate is reasonable too, even with the $25 daily resort fee. In room coffee was good too and there is a small refrigerator.

The cons: not a place for rest or quiet. The beds are very firm, too firm really to feel comfortable. I found myself tossing around quite a bit. On our first night, we awoke at 3 am hearing the workout room below. Someone was really jamming and they no doubt had a good session. It was loud enough that I could recognize each set. I mentioned it to management the next morning and it didn’t happen again. The gym is closed until 5 am so it was odd. Other reviews note this and I know that we were not dreaming. You can hear a lot of noise between rooms as there isn’t much acoustic dampening, but our neighbors were quiet once they got settled.

Our friends stayed on the 5th floor, one floor up from us. They didn’t have the noise problem. Maybe you want to ask for a room on floor 5.

I had two of my sisters stay in the hotel at my recommendation. It is lovely and the gym is very nice - I am a member. HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE HUGE PROBLEM!!! If you are on the4th floor, the noise from the area below is unbelievably loud. It started at 3:00 am and went until the exercise class began at 5:00 am and built from there. When my sister called me I could hear it on the phone! The worst part was when I called (I am a member) main desk on before their 2nd night of the stay they insisted IT DIDN"T HAPPEN!! No apology, no "I'll check it tonight" seriously, a condescending person named Joshua Dailey basically told me he thought it didn't start until 5:00 am....which wouldn't be acceptable either - but it was as if that was ok ?? Do not stay here if they can't guarantee 5th floor rooms!!!

Room tip: Stay on the 5th floor - not the 4th floor adjacent to the 3rd floor exercise area.
