Since it was off season, parking was not a problem, but some other things were. While my husband went to find a restroom, I took our dog for a walk down the road leading to the parking area. During the walk 4 people felt the need to inform me that dogs were not allowed on the beach. I replied that thank you I had seen the signs and that is why I was walking down the road away from the beach. Then a few minutes later the town police or security pulled in the lot and was watching us and another out of town family with a dog. For the record, we both cleaned up after our dogs and were wearing masks, and social distancing. My husband went to look at the beach to see if we should come back another day without our dog, but I nixed the idea because we were made to feel like criminals. And, as we were leaving, an elderly woman who had "yelled" at us said to the "official" in the car good riddance and thanked him for coming. Seriously!! I can imagine what they do to people not following the rules!!
The title says it all: less touristy side of Tybee, more peaceful, more reflective, more relaxing. One may find solitude here depending on the time of day / season.
We stayed in a condo with our family. We did not have to worry at all about social distancing because the beach was nearly empty every day. It is a nice beach to walk and there is always something to see.
Quiet beach with long wide sand. Not many people so easy to social distance. You are a close walk to ice cream and great restaurants
Nice and clean! Beautiful beach! We had so much fun. Will definitely visit again! Even with a pandemic going on, people were respectful about distance! A great get away!
Tucked away from the crowds of south beach. Park in the public lot and take a 1/4 mile walk down to the point. You will catch an unbelievable sunset with glorious pictures of the sand dunes and lighthouse. Very easy to social distance too!
