This laid back roadside restaurant offers ample sized portions and food quality. We spent a week in Tybee and everyone agreed it was the best meal we had. After some lesser quality meals we endured at other places in previous days-we all said the same thing - why the HECK didn’t we come here before?

Oysters plump juicy, flounder tasty fresh nice breading. And OH those hush puppies!! With just a taste of Jalapeño, no big chunks.Delicious!

A delightful and quirky open air restaurant, you’ll swear you were transported back to a Grateful Dead concert will all the Staff in tie dyed T-shirts zipping around you. And Gerald himself will be in the mix, as an owner involved in his restaurant.

Gerald’s Pig n Shrimp is Easily identified by the 2 SURFING PIGS (remember I said this after you see the sign) on the left as you approach Tybee Island. It’s close to a collection of roadside artsy shops.

If you are in town and at the beach, GET In your CAR and drive back out of ‘Downtown Tybee’ a couple of miles to Gerald’s. Unlike in town, Parking is easy along the extra road lane, not far to walk from where you park.

Pig out. Gerald will help!

A little bit of a wait as expected but absolutely worth it. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the big combo for two and was more than enough. Would have definitely ordered more shrimp and brisket it was that good. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Once again Gerald’s does not disappoint. Yes, we had to wait as they were busy and probably understaffed. Everywhere on the island we went to we had to wait. Staffing seems to be an issue on Tybee right now. Outstanding bbq and shrimp. We will return the next time we are on the island. Free parking too!

The restaurant needs serious help. Upon arriving and walking to the front of the covered area, no one was there to greet us. We waited a few minutes and someone eating said, "you have to go to the back of building." We went back and another five or so groups were back there waiting. It took a while to get seated and then we were forgotten about for 30+ mins. Us, as well as the table on each side, were trying to flag down someone who could take our order. After we ordered, we waited and our food came out. However, we still never had the drinks we ordered with the food. After the food came out, the guy that was cleaning tables ended up getting our drinks. He wasn't our server but took care of it very quickly. We also never received any silverware or napkins with the food. We ended up going to the bathroom to get paper towels to use because the servers disappeared again. The food was just okay at best. The bbq sandwich was a little on the cold side. We knew it was going to take a long time to get our check so we went and found someone to go ahead and get it processed while we were still eating. The check didn't come until we reminded her again later. It's a neat atmosphere and I'm sure that brings in customers but the logistics of running a restaurant needs serious help.

We are dismayed your experience was unfortunate and less than positive. We do remember the day specifically. We had a wait list before we opened and it continued throughout the day.

While we do not play on excuses we are realistic. Our loyal team members are go-getters and energetically run from before open to after close to provide a quality product/service. Staffing during this pandemic is the greatest obstacle for local, small businesses...not only on Tybee. The owners and managers are also on site working, assisting, and filling positions due to lack of staff.

Please consider and visit us again.

Gerald's Pig and Shrimp is with out a doubt a must visit and eat. The location is very beach, the staff is very attentive, the prices were lower than expected, the beer was cold and best of all the food was exceptional! Gerald, the owner, checked on everyone in the pace making sure everyone was happy and pleased.
Would again make sure to stop and have a very Nice experience.
