2 nights around Easter weekend.
Check in/out was a breeze. I had emailed them a week in advance with special room requests (i.e. feather pillows, high floor, etc) and the came through.
The Oceanfront room was huge and we loved the two bathrooms.
Amenities and service level was great as well.
It was nice to have the option of their private beach area or the adults-only rooftop pool.
Would stay there again. Better experience there than at two similar properties nearby,

For Easter booked the Grand Beach Hotel and it was not worth it. The property is pretty and the room layout was nice (2 bedroom suite) however the service destroyed the experience. The front desk is terrible. There is no outdoor bar. The only bar is in the lobby and bartender is nasty. The staff is just not either trained well or just plain lazy. I have stayed in many Miami hotels and this was something new to try for us in a new area and never again. It was not cheap and never returning again.

While we are glad to know that you found the hotel appearance and hotel grounds to be beautiful and that you felt our 2-bedroom suites had a very nice layout, it has been to our deep regret to learn of your disappointment with the staff service encountered in certain hotel areas. We have been honored to receive many comments from guests about the friendliness and genuine warmth of every member of our team and we are sorry to note you did not have this same impression during your recent stay. It is our understanding that our team did their best to accommodate your requests for an early check-in and late check-out despite the high occupancy, which we experienced over the holiday weekend and the fact that such guest requests cannot be guaranteed in advance, as they depend on hotel availability. With this being said, please rest assured that your comments will be reviewed by our team. Loved the location being on the quiet beach. Watching the sunrise on the beach was amazing. We did choose the valet parking for ease - although expensive, it was brilliant and very easy. It was around a 20-30 min drive to the action of Ocean drive and south beach. But very easy. We loved the room. We had a sunset view (city view) - we would have preferred an ocean view but it didn’t impact on our love of our suite. We had a 2 bedroomed suite for our family of 5 - it had 3 bathrooms!! We all loved being able to have a shower at the same time and so getting out was much quicker!!! The suite was spacious and lovely.
The only negatives was the service and that is why we have rated at 3 stars. One of our rooms in our suite had a fault with the air conditioning- it kept stopping. We reported it twice but it was not sorted. Meaning we had a couple of hot nights. Also the room was not serviced on one day (maybe because we were in the room during the time they normally clean?). Not something I’d normally worry about but the cost of the rooms was a lot for these little things to not be attended to.
On a positive note, it was very clean and our little welcome gift was very thoughtful. We would return but would hope for working air conditioning next time.

From the time we arrived until the time we left, the staff was attentive, helpful and over the top accommodating. The bartenders at the sky bar (Kel and Jevon) are top notch. Julian greeted me with a huge smile when I checked in. Stephan the concierge went above and beyond with his recommendations for places to eat.About the only thing this hotel does not do is tuck you into bed. Already planning our next vacation there.

This was our third stay at the Grand Beach. There are lots of good things about the hotel. The location is good (direct access to the beach); the public areas are large and airy; the rooms are big and well appointed (though storage space is scarce);there are three areas to do nothing in in the sunshine (beach, ground floor pool and rooftop kids free pool); and the staff are almost all really friendly and try to be helpful.
So what's wrong? Well here are three examples from our recent nine night stay:
1. On day 3 we had some laundry to be done. Three calls over the evening produced no action. Finally, after a fourth call, the laundry was picked up the following morning but not returned that evening, as was promised. Instead, I had to go and track it down the following day.
2. My wife likes to nap in the afternoon so it's good if our room gets cleaned in the mornings. Grand Beach isn't a cheap place, so you'd have thought that such a request made to Housekeeping would be ok, made once and valid for the whole stay. Not here. The technique I perfected over previous stays was to find which lady was doing the room that day (a different person each day!) and ask her to do ours before 12. That works provided you can find the right lady - sometimes a challenge.
3. On Day 6 we were on the rooftop pool and noticed some tiny bugs flying about. There were two hotel people looking after the pool area and I told one of them about it. Two minutes later I was walking past and saw that he was pointing me out and laughingly commenting to his colleague that I was the guy that thought there were bugs around - like I was crazy. I thought it best to ignore him. Well, two hours later the whole area was infested with these bugs and the selfsame guy was forced to clear the whole area. I went up to him to point out that I hadn't been so crazy after all and maybe he should apologise. far from doing so he told me I was a liar and that I shouldn't 'mess with him'. The bug thing isn't endemic by the way and the issue was cleared up quite quickly.
Why all this detail? I alerted front desk management to all three points. Points 1 and 2 were eventually dealt with. Unbelievably, I've never heard back on Point 3 and probably never will. The hotel would be fantastic if management was accessible, visible and really cared. My own experience sadly is that this isn't the case.
Bottom line - if you don't care too much about this kind of stuff then the hotel is ideal. If you do care and you think that these kinds of things should be mentioned once and actioned effectively, then staying at the Grand Beach may be an annoying experience.

Room Tip: High rooms with sea view are best

We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to thank you for your positive comments towards our property’s good beachfront location, which indeed offers convenient direct beach access from hotel premises further complimented by spacious and airy hotel grounds, large and well-appointed guest rooms and excellent leisure amenities available at our beach area, rooftop adults pool and ground level pool area. While we are pleased that you found the hotel staff to be mostly friendly and willing to be of assistance, it has been to our regret to learn that we fell short of expectations on a couple of occasions during your visit. We are truly appreciative of the opportunity you have given us to further look into and elaborate on your concerns. When it comes to points 1. & 2., we apologize for the inconvenience encountered in regards to housekeeping and laundry service, which we provide. Both of these matters have already been discussed with the according teams onsite and we are happy to note that our team’s efforts to address them at the time, when they were brought to the manager’s attention, managed to outweigh your disappointment. With this being said, we wish to sincerely apologize for the unfavorable encounter you had with one of our pool attendants during this visit. We take such guest feedback seriously and we hope you can believe us, when we say that we do our best to follow up and address it without delay. Based on your review and comments, we have initiated a follow up with our Pool operations management team and more particularly with the manager, who was on duty that day. He has assured us that the incident, which you reported to our front desk team was immediately discussed and addressed directly with the team member involved. We want to take advantage of the opportunity to note that this is the first time a situation such as this one has been presented with this attendant; proper consultation with the team member in question has taken place to ensure that no miscommunication and inappropriate behavior takes place again, should a similar situation arise in the future. In addition, management will be closely monitoring this hotel area to clear any present shortcomings and ensure guest concerns are handled in an appropriate manner going forward. We sincerely hope that the apology amenity, which we sent to your room and the service recovery credit that was applied to your final bill managed to express our apology for the occurred incident. We do wish to note that this is certainly not indicative of the service level, which we strive to maintain at the hotel. We are thankful for your honest and detailed feedback. We hope to have another opportunity in the future to welcome you back, so we can show the standards of service, in which we would like to pride ourselves, in a truer light.
