Located in a busy strip mall, El Inka has warm lighting and a casual, minimalist interior. There are toasted corn kernels and a spicy dipping sauce waiting at each table when you are seated. With not much else in the room, the stark atmosphere really allows the the colorful and well presented food to stand out.

I ordered a Chicha Morada to drink, a purple corn-based Peruvian specialty. While non-alcoholic, it was sangria-like in taste and appearance and very refreshing.

Next came the Causa Sampler which featured one of each causa variety. There were three cold potatoes topped with chicken, shrimp, and octopus salad, all nicely garnished. While beautiful to look at, the serving seemed a bit small at first glance, however, this dish was very rich, so the plate was perfect for an appetizer.

Once my Ceviche Pescado entree arrived, I was quite glad about the appetizer size, since the entree portion was very large. The generous helping of white fish marinated in lime juice and seasoned with cilantro was accompanied by gigantic kernels of corn and ginger spiced sweet potato.

For dessert, I couldn't resist trying the sweet potato donuts, warm and drizzled with a dark, thin caramel syrup. The four donuts would have been perfect for sharing, but since I was dining alone I ate them all. I chose to have hot tea with dessert, and the tea was a nice variety of surprisingly high quality.

While not inexpensive, the value is certainly there. The Peruvian dishes are a nice change from more common cuisines. There's a rich blend of flavors at play here, yet nothing too unfamiliar. All of this isn't to say that El Inka is a one time escape from the mundane; indeed this restaurant is worth many return visits.

We were in the Dr. Phillips area on business and someone recommended this place for lunch or dinner. Decided to give it a try. Restaurant had a nice size lunch crowd, service was perfect, the restaurant was Very clean and had a nice vibe and decor. I had the Ceviche Mixo. It was fantastic! Very fresh, not too spicy, perfect cool temperature for ceviche. My wife had the lunch special Grilled beef with fries over a deep brown gravy. Good prices, high quality and in and out within 40 minutes. I will definitely try it for dinner next time.
