We've been to the crow's nest restaurant twice this spring break and would go back again if we were here longer. Each day our server, Hannah greeted us with prompt attention and a smile. The food was always good and moderately priced. You can see the beach and gulf of Mexico from the window seat. This is a great restaurant for a family of 4 in need of a little Florida time.

Very nice casually atmosphere and good food. We had just gotten into town after a long day so we decided to get take out and eat by the marina. They were very accommodating with changing our reservation.

I had hoped the new chef would fix the quality of the menu items at Crows nest because it is fun and a great location. The Old Captiva House is wonderful at breakfast and at dinner. The Oasis Pool bar has some of the best food in Captiva. It stands to reason this spot would also be great. Tried it again this visit. Menu has changed a bit, but it is still not very appealing compared to years ago. Ordered southwest chicken salad. It was awful to look at, and not what I had expected. Chicken was good, the rest was a mess. Salad and the thick sauce or whatever it was heaped on top was horrible. The Caesar salad which is great at the other two restaurants is drenched in avocado Caesar and not nearly as crisp and good. I will keep hoping something can be done. It’s a really fun spot, when they have crab races or live music.

Dear Debeatle,

Thank you for your recent review of the Crow's Nest Bar and Grille. We take all of our reviews very seriously, especially the critiques, as they give us opportunities to better ourselves. We're sorry to hear we missed the mark on our Chicken Taco Salad and Avocado Caesar the night you dined. All of our menu items and their components are scratch made daily thanks to our Executive Chef, Greg Nelson. We will personally speak with him to resolve the issues mentioned in your comment. We hope you give us another opportunity in the future to wow you!

Thank you,

The food was good and generous and the staff were very efficient and nice, but do not bother with the crab races.
So much for making your own way in life—the guy doing the races said his father started them—so apparently the best he could manage in life was taking over his daddy’s gig.
He is completely unfunny. His “humor” is of a nudge-nudge-wink-wink sexual innuendo variety that is contemptuous of his guests and would not amuse even a sixth-grade boy. Certainly this was inappropriate around the children at the early show. Further, he sets up an environment in which the urge to touch the crabs is nearly irresistible for the young kids, and then chastises the parents, near the point of anger, for not controlling them better.
During the show, he barks a litany of instructions and rules that only he can remember. I’m reminded of a school safety patrol boy on his first day, drunk with the only tiny bit of authority he’s ever had.
Borderline personality disorder comes to mind. His “joking” becomes physical, smacking people on the back of the head, tugging on earlobes and shooting people and kids with a squirt gun, sometimes in the face. It may not be long before he deservedly gets some teeth knocked out and the restaurant has litigation to deal with.
Finally, he claims to have raised over $200,000 for charity doing these lame shows, but I wonder if the proprietor ever has fact-checked the actual resting place for the cash that crosses this guy’s hands each show.

Dear Darlene D,

Thank you for your excellent review in regards to your recent dining experience with us at the Crow's Nest Bar and Grille. We were thrilled to read how much you enjoyed our efficient staff and made from scratch menu items.

We take all of our very seriously, especially the critiques. The Crab Races have been a popular tradition at TWI for the past 30 years. We're very sorry you did not enjoy the show. Sunburn Willy's Crab Races are not for everyone, however, many people are still lining up to participate!

Despite your suspicion, a portion of the money raised during the shows is in fact donated to the United Way and this can easily be verified with Mr. Cliff Smith, Executive Director of Lee County United Way Organization.

Thank you again for taking the time to offer feedback. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit!

Kind regards,
F&B Management

This is a beer and burger joint. Big groups. Food was average: good fries, lousy cold quinoa salad option.friendly and helpful service, but this doesn’t correct for unappetizing food.
