Owned and operated by Captain John Houston, a Sanibel native, we provide guests the opportunity to create everlasting memories while strolling the waters on the Gulf of Mexico and Old Florida. Captain John is a self-taught naturalist who is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the local ecosystem. He is a fourth-generation Floridian whose unique upbringing has provided him the platform to share his knowledge of the area’s rugged history and events the shaped our area into what it has become today. We offer a variety of charter services including private fishing trips, snorkeling adventures, eco-charters for sightseeing, birding, and shelling. Private lunch tours to waterfront restaurants in the surrounding areas and water-taxi services are also available. Open year-round!

Booked a four hour tour with Captain Colin last week and it was the highlight of our trip to Captiva. Colin is extremely knowledgeable and was excellent with our two young children (5 and 19 months). Colin took us up to Cabbage Key and then shelling on Cayo Costa where we had the beach to ourselves. He was quick to point out wildlife on the way, as well as interesting facts about the islands. I would not hesitate to book another tour with Colin and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a private tour.

Wow! Took a tour with Captain Colin Carpenter that far surpassed our expectations! We booked on very short notice and told Captain Colin that we wanted to see wildlife...especially birds and dolphins...and go shelling and boy did he deliver! We had Pelicans flying alongside our boat and then plopping down in the water right beside us as well as anhingas, cormorants and Ospreys. We also saw numerous dolphins very close to the boat. But Captain Colin decided he could do better than that. After two attempts circling around, he managed to find a playful pod of dolphins that cavorted in the wake of our boat, up close and personal. A totally amazing experience!
We then went to a gorgeous, deserted beach and collected bags of shells.
All in all it was a perfect day and a highlight of our two week stay in Florida.

We arrived a little late, but Cap'n John was very accommodating and assured us we didn't have to worry. When we did arrive, Cap'n was ready to go with his first mate, Maya. We had a pretty long list of things we wanted to do, and I have to say that Cap'n John made sure we hit everything on that list and then some. We literally got within 2 feet from live dolphins, in addition to doing some great snorkeling and fishing. John and his first mate were extremely friendly throughout the entire trip, and the whole thing was very fun and comfortable. Cap'n John even has a nice cooler chalk full of ice to accommodate some sandwiches or drinks and keep them ice cold. Overall, I highly recommend Native Guides. The experience was excellent and I really don't have one bad thing to say about it. Thanks again Cap'n!

Last day of hols and wanted kids to have something to remember trip by - had a great mornings fishing off bayside of Captiva . Captain John enthused kids involving them catching bait then quickly got them started fishing. All caught something either snapper, mackerel or trout. This was cleaned for us and John recommended getting it cooked last flamingo which was cool. Great trip, good guide and happy to recommend.
