Owner description: Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a 13,000 acre Preserve. The Sanctuary is open daily from 7-5:30 with last admission at 4:30 pm. Visitors will find a gentle, pristine wilderness that dates back more than 500 years. A 2.25 mile boardwalk meanders through pine flatwoods, wet prairie, around a marsh and finally into the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. These impressive trees, relatives of the redwood, tower 130 feet into the sky and have a girth of 25 feet. Their massive branches are draped with mosses, lichens, bromeliads and ferns. The forest is also home to alligators, otters, white-tailed deer and red-bellied turtles. A wide variety of wading birds, songbirds, raptors and the fabulous Painted Bunting can be seen throughout the year. Photo opportunities are available at every turn of the boardwalk trail.

2.5 mile walk on a boardwalk to see Florida wild life of gators, birds, deer, snakes and many kinds of trees. Spend 2 to 3 hours but it is 45 minutes from Naples. Insect spray and sunscreen is a must.

This place is a good way to see A LOT of native Florida trees and birds as well as some other seldom seen wildlife native to the area. Plan on walking a couple of miles and learning a lot about the wildlife from sanctuary staff.
Overall the sanctuary is less than a zoo but more than a simple nature hike. I wasn’t thrilled about the price but it includes two days (which we did not use) to visit the sanctuary so if you are staying in the area you don’t need to fit all of the walking in on one day, you can come back for day two.
Great place to take the kids.

A great and different place to visit. An easy walk on the boardwalk through unspoiled Florida as it was perhaps a hundred years ago. Huge cypress trees and plants too numerous to list. Also many different wading birds, alligators and snakes to be seen

Put this in your list of places to visit!

This is a nice walk on a boardwalk above the ground allowing you to enjoy the marshy woods!

Beautiful!
