I am incredibly disappointed with everything EXCEPT for the way this hotel looks. Of course, on the outside, the new construction is beautiful and the hotel is perfectly situated. But don't be FOOLED.
I NEVER write reviews - good or bad - but I want to make sure people don't make the same mistake I did!
I have stayed at practically every resort in the Keys - from Cheeca Lodge to Hawk's Cay etc. The experience at Playa Largo is by far the worst I have ever had for the following reasons:
1. They are grossly understaffed and for that reason, cannot even provide the most basic service. (e.g. I waited over an hour for my luggage to be delivered to the room; would call the front desk three or four times and finally would have to walk downstairs in pajamas to get service at night, waiting 45 minutes for my breakfast in the morning, etc.).
2. The individuals they do have on staff for the most part need to undergo serious hospitality training. They don't understand the value of acknowledging a person's issue and more importantly of FOLLOW UP. (e.g. I was promised that my issue at midnight would be resolved concerning the room next door and that I would get a follow-up - my issue was neither resolved nor was there follow-up to tell me so).
3. The amenities are not designed to fit the number of rooms. For such a "large" resort, the way this place is designed makes no sense. If you come during the season, you are doomed to not have a chair at the pool or beach.
Do NOT make the same expensive mistake I did. I will never stay at this hotel again and I will tell anyone I know that is planning a trip to the Keys about my experience.
