Took a 6-hour trip with Preston & Cowboy. Me, Wife, and three teenage kids had the most amazing day. These guys were great....they knew where the fish were and how to catch them. They were patient, helpful, and lots of fun. Capt. Preston started by asking what were hoping for - I said "Catch a lot of fish, maybe some big ones, maybe some keepers, & make some memories.". He confidently replied "Sounds Good" and off we went.
Seas started out a little rough that morning and the movement at our first fishing stop was a little too much for wife and daughter. Preston happily adjusted location for their comfort and took us to a calmer location. We were catching so many fish so fast that our arms kept getting tired and we had to take breaks. Several different types, different colors, and varying sizes - including 10 or so keepers!
We then decided to target something a little bigger and in virtually no time, we had hooked a 50" Amberjack. We fought it tag-team style, just like on TV, passing the rod from person to person when our arms started wearing out. We finally got it near the boat and got to witness it get attacked by Bull Sharks! The sharks took about half our fish but we got the front half which I'm still going to get mounted because what an amazing conversation piece it will be!.
Our final stop was to see if we could add some more fish to the ice chest and as before, Preston and Cowboy knew exactly how to do it. We got another 15 or so keepers before heading back in.
In total, we caught 7 different kinds of fish - total numbers too many to count but 26 were keepers which is pretty remarkable because so much is out-of-season in late March. Back on the pier, Cowboy filleted and bagged our keep while Preston helped me get in touch with a taxidermist to get the ball rolling with our half-Amberjack.
What a great day!
