Sunshine and their wonderful staff went above and beyond to make our pontoon experience in Destin a great trip to remember. They were able to book me and my family last minute and helped us by bringing our coolers down the stairs. the staff was very nice and even taught us how to drive the pontoon boat to crab island. on our way back to the docks we even got to see dolphins in the harbor! This was a great experience and we highly recommend this extraordinary business!

We rented a pontoon boat for 4hours. We got an old boat, the lady even told us they had to pull it out of storage. Seats had tears, canopy had tears, the door at the back of the boat would not stay closer. When we opened Both doors to get off they would not stay open and no way to anchor them so they wouldn’t hit you when you were getting off and on. The lady told us the phone # for them was on the side of the boat if we needed to contact them but there was no phone #. None of the gages worked including speed. Not that we needed to know how fast we were going the boat had absolutely no speed to it at all! My first boat rental at the ocean and was so not worth $300.00. Wish I could have left a better review but I can’t knowing there were two other pontoon boats they were sending out that were so much newer and nicer

You must not have rented from my company. Our boats are 2018 Crest luxury pontoons. There is not a nicer boat in the Destin harbor. Not only that, but I have the best prices in the Destin harbor. Our half day rental is $275 not the $300 you claim to have paid. Also, we don’t rent boats for the Ocean. It is illegal and irresponsible to take a pontoon boat into the ocean.

the morning of our full-day pontoon rental started off with some heavy rainfall, but that didn't slow down any of the help from the amazing staff at Sunshine Water Sports. They helped us get our coolers down the steps and onto the boat, made sure we knew where all life vests and emergency equipment were located, and how to get to Crab Island the best way... all in the rain. The pontoon itself was perfect for our party of 8 people and 2 dogs, we were never on top of one another. When we came back into dock, again the staff were beyond gracious and helpful. As soon as we got into our vehicle to leave, my husband said he wanted to use this company again as soon as possible. In a time where customer service is never consistent, my husband & I choose to spend our money where we find stellar customer service, that's why we will continue to choose Sunshine Water Sports.

In our nearly decade visiting this area, for the second year we discovered the freedom, thrill and enjoyment of a rented a pontoon boat. But not all of those experiences are equal.

High expectations were set in our first rental by Sunshine competitor Luther’s with superior customer service and experience. They were sold-out this year, so we chose Sunshine.

The front desk staff was friendly, but the entire check-in was as disorganized an operation I've ever seen. The boat's performance was disappointing and clearly had an issue which has fallen on deaf ears.

Before getting into our review, we’ve read some of the managements' snarky responses to previous negative reviews and before they attack this customer's character to preserve their own self-image, I'll assure you we're not "high-maintenance" or "miserable". Quite contrary, actually. We carried our own stuff to and from the boat and fetched our cars from the overworked valet. We even gave him a ride to more cars he had to get. And tipped for those services that weren't fully rendered.

None of this was really an issue. It's vacation, we have a lot of kids along and we're expecting to carry stuff and drive our cars around. Not a big deal, but if you're going to offer those services, make sure you have the staff and organization to handle it.

Here's where the real disappointment comes in. It's suggested you're to arrive early for a full-day or morning rental to ensure a better chance at getting a newer boat. We did, but it really didn't matter. Our boat, a newer, nice navy blue, was cosmetically in good condition, but clearly had performance issues. The first red-flag before we pushed back was none of the gauges worked except RPMs. No biggie – that happens – we just need to know if we’re floating and it runs.

After leaving the harbor at idle, the engine's performance didn't change much advancing to full-throttle. Our 60hp Mercury engine was getting passed with ease by similar boats. A craft that should top out around 18 miles an hour was doing - at best - 5mph. We called from the bay and were given an option to return it for a different pontoon, but with a caution that the one left was much older and to choose wisely. We dealt with it for the rest of the day, but the experience was certainly limited by not being able to cruise or even create enough breeze for it to be enjoyable. We were met on the dock at the end of the day by a manger who popped the engine cover off and said “wish I would’ve known it was doing that” and pulled some cables. Immediately he identified an issue, but not sure that’s the only one.

His desk staff shared his cell phone number with us as we carried our stuff to the top of the stairs. He had ours as well. He was going to test drive the boat to identify the problem and follow up. We feel we should be compensated for the reduced experience being able to cruise effectively at appropriate speed. We’ve texted him. Twice. It's been 48 hours and no response. They have our money, we returned their boat on time and won’t be back to Destin until next year, so why should they bother? We won’t be returning to Sunshine if they have the last boat in the bay.

This company defends itself in other reviews for being known for "its excellent customer service", but I would recommend they take a spin with one of the competitors down the harbor to learn what they're up against.

You started this review by talking about snarky responses to reviews but then you leave a long review that is not honest. Maybe that’s why you started out this way. You went out all day yet never called to say there was a problem with your boat. When you got back you told my manager that your boat went only 4 mph and that you wanted your rental partially refunded. My manager told you no refund and In front of you he took your boat out and it ran the typical 16 to 18mph that these boats run. This boat had no issues before your rental and has had no trouble after your rental. These are 2018 Crest boats, there is not a nicer boat on the Destin harbor. And as far as our customer service read our other reviews. No ones customer service is better. We take our customers things from car to boat and back. We give our customers free ice and have free parking. Our waivers are on an Samsung pad, can’t get easier or shorter than that.
