Description: One of the few remaining Miami locales offering traditional English afternoon tea, the Biltmore is arguably the most elegant venue, with its soaring vaulted ceiling, magnificent lobby and majestically mantled fireplace. The refreshing repast is served daily and is complemented with and elegant harp weekdays and music of an accomplished classical guitarist on the weekends. Even though there are fans along the perimeter, I can tell that it gets super hot and humid in the outdoor section - tip, go early for breakfast or eat inside if you are hungry later in the afternoon. Food is good and the breakfast buffet is great - includes made to order omelets!

We had great exceptions in the Fontana in the Biltmore Hotel. It's lovely built into the complex and has a great mood. Here it stops. Staff is nice but not more. Food is under par.
The POLLO PARMIGIANA looks like straight out of the prision kitchen and the LASAGNE bechamel was rock solid instead of liquid. Whatever they did, they just didn't do it right. For what we finally paid, it was not worth it at all. Nothing tasted good enough.

Breakfast has a small selection with ONE double-toaster for all guests. I don't know what they are thinking. Maybe it's off season and nobody cares. It really felt like this.

I had two plates in my hands and couldn't open the door, staff is standing around and glaring at me. Come on.

We are in Florida several times a year and generally make a point of having a meal at Fontana, sometimes in conjunction with attending a show at the Gables Stage and sometimes just because.
Last evening we had a fairly early dinner, so we were one of only a few tables that were occupied. Our wait staff was impeccable in every regard. We ordered the pasta pomodoro and the lamb. On the menu the pasta read "fresh tomatoes, etc. etc - which, in my mind meant discernable pieces of (literally) fresh tomatoes with the requisite basil. What appeared was a tomato SAUCE - which was probably house made and perhaps with fresh tomatoes, but sadly it could have been any tomato sauce. Not that it was unpleasant. But definitely - in my mind - misleading on the menu. The lamb was accompanied by an excellent polenta and some grilled baby squash - but - and here we go again - order "medium rare." When it appeared it was perilously close to well done. My dining companion was reluctant to "make a fuss" so soldiered through a drastically overcooked and consequently tough piece of meat (beautifully presented though!). When the waiter returned I chose to ask him to look at the meat and he was stunned and immediately offered to solve the problem. Our time was limited and my partner chose not to have a replacement. Given that so few were being attended to at the time it seems inappropriate that the lamb would have been incorrectly cooked. The good news is my Quinoa salad and the other Tuna Tatare were most tasty and, as always the setting in charming and the service particularly attentive. The menu could stand some clarification and the meat definitely needs to be tested before being presented.

We enjoyed a dinner with the most amazing chef, Guiseppe Galazzi. He just made the evening amazing. He prepared a 5 course dinner, right in front of us at the bar. They were all small dishes. We started with some antipasti, including duck sausage, mmmmmmm. The dinner was a variety of different pastas, prepared different ways. Squid ink Tagliolini, the best spaghetti carbonara, eggplant parmigiana, risotto and followed by dessert. Each course accompanied by a delicious wine. Just spectacular

Food was good but not exceptional considering prices. Staff was not as attentive as they should be at an upscale restaurant.
