My family of 7 went to Clearwater Beach on a spring break evening only to find 60-90 minute waits as the norm. We went back to downtown (where we were staying) and were seated immediately at Rumba Island Bar & Grill (indoors. 45 min wait for outdoor seating). We were not disappointed. Everyone loved their food. Great reggae music, easy parking (valet). Just so much better than the stress and chaos of the crowds at the beach. So no wonderful view. Big deal. Wonderful food, reasonable prices. And a large restaurant with a good crowd, so we knew it was going to be good.

We ate here for the first time we have been going to Clearwater the last eleven years. The food was very well presented. I had the Hog Fish sandwich and oysters on the half shell. My wife and daughter really liked their meals, too. Drinks were inexpensive and very tasty, too. We will return next year.

We ate there in our visit to Tampa, and we loved it. Try the island platter, good dish! We were served by a lovely girl named Lindsay who made us feel at home. We will return, we promise!!

My friend and I were coming from an exhausting trip to Home Depot and we needed to decompress, so we turned in at Rumba for a quick bite. So glad we did! The patio was busy, and the music was loud (at 2:30 PM), so we went inside. Cool, and blessedly quiet. We were quickly shown to a comfortable booth and given menus. Ice water and
Mama Maria's Muffins were brought to the table shortly after. I have to say, I could have made my whole lunch out of those things, they were that delicious.
We ordered the coconut shrimp and the pulled pork sandwich. Both delightful. The shrimp were plump and juicy, not hard like they sometimes can be. The pulled pork was full-flavored, soft and moist. No complaints about the food at all. I would have given 5 stars, had it not been for the service. The server was nice enough, but made no appearances after our meal was delivered. We wanted a second cocktail, but by the time she reappeared, we were almost done, and just wanted the check. I don't understand that, since the restaurant was not busy (at least on the inside). But that alone wouldn't prevent me from coming back, because the food was really good.
