Booked a taxi from Lemon Tree to take us to Udawalawe National Park and the price was better than any others and without haggling. On the day a very comfortable air conditioned van came and picked us up right on time. The driver was great - courteous, careful and capable. We then booked him the next day to take us onto Colombo and he was excellent - took us to a restaurant of our choosing & then onto the airport. I was impressed with Lemon Tree tours - well done & thanks for a high quality service!!

We used Lemon Tree tours for all of our trips in Arugam bay. We did a half day safari that was a good price compared to other companies & the driver was there waiting to pick us up at the arranged time. We saw lots of animals including the Leopard which was amazing. The lagoon trip was very peaceful and enjoyable, we went early morning & saw elephants and lots of different birds. The tuk tuk driver was very punctual. Lastly lemon tree arranged our transport to Ella in a lovely comfortable car with AC and it was a good price.
Would highly recommend using these people. Very friendly helpful & efficient. The main guy even turned up to our hotel to see us off when we left for Ella.

Thank you

Booked share safari for 4500, slightly less than elsewhere on the market. This includes park entrance which is good. Driver was great at spotting things we would have otherwise missed. Unfortunately leopards eluded us, but close encounter with an elephant, and then plenty of deer, buffalo, birds, boars. Left at 1:30 and back in 7:30.

Booked a shared trip with Lemon Tree travel company in Arugam Bay. It cost us LKR 4500 per person. We had 2 other couples as well as one subdue traveller with us on our jeep. I would say the shared option was really good as it was lighter on the pocket for us, while we also got to meet some fellow travellers. If you hire the jeep solo from Lemon Tree the quote was around LKR 14000.

We were super pleased with Lemon Tree’s service all around. We asked around all the tour companies in Arugam Bay before finalising, and we found most of them either not transparent or not properly communicative. In particular the guy in Ceylon Walking tours lied to us overstating the government entree fees to the park as LKR 4500 (when its common knowledge that it’s arounf LKR 2200) and also lied to us that the pilgrimage season was in November even though it was happening then.

Manas from Lemon Tree on the other hand came across as a very ethical salesperson staying everything transparently and not trying to increase prices for us even when we were in a rush towards the end. Lemon tree was also the only one who arranged shared trips; all other operators would only arrange singular trips and if you want to share you would’ve to find other travellers!

Their driver cum guide was very friendly and informative too. He let us watch and photograph animals at our pace. He was a great spotter too and ended up spotting crocodiles and other animals where initially we could hardly see anything. He was a good embodiment of the motto on his t-shirt : Friedly, Local, Reliable

The drive through Kumana National park was fun. We had quite a few close elephant sightings. Buffaloes, birds, deers and monkeys we sighted in the plentiful. I also had a fleeting glimpse at a leopard before the shy animal strode off into the brush. I can imagine why they say it’s a birder’s paradise. Even though I am not a bird watcher I found the sheer variety of birds amazing.

One tip would be to avoid going on weekends though as the number of jeeps in the park would be relatively higher as the locals too would be in to watch the animals on their day off. But again it’s still way less crowded than any other park I have been to, so go for it if you can’t pick any other day.

The food we made was delicious. The downside was it wasn’t very hands-on it was more of a ‘show’ than a class and we had to write our own recipes out. I would still recommend this experience.
