Owner description: A great hiking and mountain biking area with over 600 miles of trails.

This trail, which runs along Hwy. 40, is a good introduction to hiking at elevation; if you aren't a veteran Colorado hiker or biker, it is a nice gentle way to get used to the elevation and still get a little exercise. It is a gravel path that has gentle hills and valleys, and since it is in the Fraser Valley, the scenery is lovely. The trail is for hikers and bikers, but we didn't see anyone else on the trail when we went. For bikers, it is about 16 miles of trail between the two towns. We didn't hike the entire way, but we could see most of it from the highway, and it looks well maintained.

Beautiful but not exceptional - traffic can be a pain in the rear

With Anne, we took our older model mountain bikes up the St Louis Creek trail on Carefree and back down Sluce. We are really entry level bikers, and older (grown children) so we are not radical at all. It was a good test on the way up with rocks and roots, but not too steep or crazy. The way down was easier, but even so, I manged to go for it and had a great time. We try to get to the valley 4-5 times a year to ski or camp or something and it is a wonderful place. We are so lucky to live in Colorado.

I have to say since we moved to Colorado 4 years ago i have always looked forward to our July 4 weekends up in WP .This has been the Norn for us every year since. The MTbiking on the MTN is awesome,It's not for everyone but if you like to go down fast then this is for you. After a day on the MTN you need to stop by Hernando's Pizza Pub being that i am from NYC i just love there pizza it's well worth the wait. I can't wait to go back this summer .
