Courtyard hotel is currently closed even though you can book a room on Marriott site which is incredibly unethical. They will move you to the Residence Inn across the street. Booked online direct through Marriott site. Arrived to a notice on the front door notifying it is locked and to please call a number. A hotel worker was there and came out and notified us the hotel was closed and that the reservation was moved to the Residence Inn. He said someone should have called and notified us and sorry that didn’t happen.
Okay, fine, no big deal.
So we go and check in(front desk ladies were very nice) at the Residence Inn across the street. Get into the room and it was literally SO DIRTY. Room 127 main floor corner room. Crumbs and food all over the floor in the kitchen. Tables had crumbs and coffee grounds on them. Just obviously dirty, with all the notices they post of extra cleaning and sanitizing during Covid, this was clearly not the case.
Went back to the front desk to notify and ask for a room change. The front desk ladies were very nice, change the room which ended up being an accessible room which is not something we would book due to the bathrooms. They had no other King rooms available so moved to a third room which was a Queen room.
Called Marriott customer service which said they couldn’t do anything since we already checked in and to work with the hotel.
Okay, go and speak with the front desk ladies- we would like to get a refund and stay somewhere else. The front desk said they could cancel but could not guarantee we would receive no penalty charges and that they would have to leave a note for the GM to review and decide.
Absolutely Ridiculous - stuck in a hotel we don’t want to be in. Don’t book either hotel.
