Arrived around 5 PM to check in for 4-night stay to evaluate neighborhoods in region for retirement coming in 6 months. Immediate extremely offensive request by the Motel 6 management staff demanding identification for my wife! I have NEVER had this kind of request during a hotel check-in from over 40 years of staying at motels and hotels all over the country. After asking, she said this was a Motel 6-thing. Remember, it was Motel 6 that was recently caught sending guest lists to Immigration (ICE). This stinks like something very similar. The CEO was not pleased with this and will likely not approve of this facility doing something similar. For this reason alone, I will NEVER stay at another Motel 6 again for the rest of my life; but that was just the beginning of the nightmare. Entering the room, it had an overpowering stink of disinfectants/air freshener smell, similar to the difference between a good result of one saccharin sweetener in an ice tea to the taste after adding 30. So, trying to ignore the disinfectant stink, it was very hot in the room. Low-and-behold, turning the thermostat all the way down with fan on high, the vent was pouring out warm air.
Being two hours out of synch from east coast time, we hit the bed at around 10:00 PM (12:00 midnight our jet lag time). Started with three black hairs on my wife’s pillow from some unknown person or animal (we don’t have black hair; both of us over 65). Then the noise started. First a group of men, very near our room standing outside engaged in a loud conversation, and then the room above ours people started stomping around and sounded like dropping barbells onto the floor (our celling). Calmed down around midnight. The again at 4 AM!!!. Tromping around and loud floor crashes for another hour. Little sleep.
Decided to leave even with the potential of losing the rest of our prepaid stay of almost $150 for three more nights. Could not bear the possibility of three more nights like this one. (Thankfully, with a plea to Hotels.com, got a refund). Relatively trivial issues; not a simple clock radio on the night stand (probably get in bulk for $5, but clientele probably steal them regularly); not even a Do Not Disturb tag for the room Door!
Alternate hotel was double the cost, but in perspective, well worth it! Best Western in Loveland with amazing Free Breakfast, Free internet and QUIET!. Worth the extra $50. Manager at this hotel also said the Motel 6 ID check for all parties was "very weird!"
I see from other posts, this review is typical!
Tom Bodett would be ashamed about this place.
"We'll leave the light on for ya," and demand the IDs from everyone in your family (and maybe inform the authorities?)
NEVER AGAIN!

Room Tip: avoid! At least get second floor to avoid tromping on your ceiling and groups outside your door on the first floor.

I would not stay at this Motel 6 again and would think twice before staying at any Motel 6 again after the experience we had. It took like 30 minutes to check in because of computer issues. Needed both my wife's identification and mine (first time this ever happens in the US). The toilet had hair on it and the floor had a dead bug and dead flies. The night table was not clean. The pool did not look very clean, even though we didn't plan on using it. When we told the front desk about the cleanliness of the room, she said she would have a talk with the cleaning staff (not good enough). We ended up paying $2.99 for wifi that was very intermitent, didn't feel like paying the more expensive option just for checking email and booking hotels. Why do they sell an inferior wifi option, just to tick people off? After the room cleanliness issues, they should of at least offered us free wifi. On the bright side, Denny's was just down the street and they had great wifi.

The hotel key did not work and the front desk were irritated and having to provide another, indicating it was probably my fault because I must have put the key next to my phone. The pool was supposed to be open until 9.30 but I could not get in after my arrival. The staff tried three different keys and then decided that the pool must be closed. The light in the bathroom did not work. There were a number of holes in the bedspread from cigarette burns. The towel holders came away from the wall with the tool.

Room Tip: Bring your own shampoo

I usually just need clean, good shower and TV, but this had No shampoo, NO hairdryer, squeaky fan, and rough towels. Design and cleanliness were fine. Convenient location and Denny's nearby. Price was right compared to others.

We almost always stay at Motel 6 because they are pet friendly. However, there was no grass, and only gravel by the fence and NO ONE, not even the motel staff, bothers to pick up their dog's messes. The gravel was a stinky mess with piles of dog poop everywhere. My dogs could not find a clean place to do their business so they used the driveway (and yes, I did clean up after them).
