Himalayan Kitchen is run by Nepalese chefs and has some Nepalese specialities, but overall it offers northern Indian dishes on its menu. The range of Indian dishes on offer is impressive and for many choosing to dine here they will find a number of new dishes to sample.

Prices are reasonable and the food is well-prepared and generous in helpings. For those who enjoy Indian food, Himalayan Kitchen provides a refreshing variation on the typical Indian restaurant, with some specialities that would not normally be encountered elsewhere: definitely recommended!

We knew we were in for a treat just walking down to the entrance...the smells were wonderfully enticing. We had a great 5 course vegetarian meal and a pot of masala chi tea. It came with soup, salad, rice, a couple veggie dishes, and naan bread. The service was good too,

Reading a few of the negative reviews, our experience here was totally different. My husband and I totally enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant; the hostess and server were very responsive and helpful. We split an order of momos - enough for two people. We had half chicken and half lamb; saag paneer; garlic naan; and of course rice. We would wholeheartedly dine here again if we are in Durango.

We had the vegetarian dinner. Came with dessert. We both had the Kheer which is similar to rice pudding but better. The naan bread was warm and fresh. We also got a pot of masala chi tea. Loved the cardomon spice. We would eat here again.

Decided spontaneously to try it when reading about it since we had never had Nepalese or Tibetan food. Ordered pan-fried yak with vegetables, a curry type mixed vegetable dish, and lentil soup. All was very very good. Service seemed a bit slow, but food is cooked to order, and restaurant was busy on a Sunday night, so we understand. May be back to try the lunch buffet...
