I’d been wanting to try this place for some time. I heard that this was the best fried chicken in Colorado. I couldn’t drive by without stopping. Unfortunately, there was no available dining, but we were offered carry out. No problem we’ll just have a picnic instead. Then we realized were not given utensils or napkins. Kind of hard to eat without them. Forty plus dollars for 2 chicken dinners for goodness sakes throw in some disposable cutlery and napkins. Your venue is 15 miles out of town! We were given a small serving of cherry cider in a plastic food container with four Cheez-Its on the side. The chicken was very small and the flavor was just ok. It felt like a bad value. The vegetable was a bizarre okra-type succotash with no flavor other than overwhelming pepper. Barely edible. The biscuits were dry, the potatoes were bland, and the coleslaw was underwhelming. The cinnamon applesauce, unlike the other sides, was delicious. The dessert, which was included, was the brownie pudding. It was uninspired but not terrible. Perhaps it would have been more enjoyable with a fork. I’d hope the dine-in experience is better. They seem to be living off there past reputation. I hope they re evaluate their operation as they need ramp up their quality to provide a good value.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience. We had cutlery available, all you had to do was ask for it.

A wonderful experience south of Colorado Springs for delicious fried chicken and/or ham. Old, old family house with family still preparing all the food. very limited menu but if you like fried chicken, you can't beat it in Colorado Springs!! Whipped potatoes, okra, home made rolls with apple butter---delicious plus numerous homemade desserts
Outstanding

The restaurant is in an old adobe home, and the meal is served family style (they bring out plates/bowls that everyone at the table shares). The chicken was flavorful and moist, but for me, it was a little too heavily fried. If you like country/southern fried chicken, you will probably like it more. The buttermilk biscuits were fantastic, as was the country gravy. Some of the other sides and appetizers were a little weird though. It's $22 per person, which is fair considering the amount of food you get. The service was fast and friendly.

The chicken and biscuits were phenomenal. Especially the apple butter with the biscuit. The other sides were a bit bland though. Overall great value as we got a couple refills on the chicken. Quick service as well.

My son had heard a lot about this place and we made reservations. (you will want to make reservations as they have become so popular it is difficult to do a walk in.) We all ordered the chicken and my son and I both commented on how small the chickens were. But they were cooked well. Riced potatoes and gravy and biscuits were excellent. Appetizer was chicken curry soup with two cheese its (not kidding, it made us laugh), and it was very good. Slaw was good. We aren't okra fans, so skipped the okra. Took dessert home for the next day as I just couldn't eat another bite.

If you aren't familiar with the menu or restaurant, here is more information. The primary seating times are 5:30; 6:30 and 7:30. You don't need to arrive early as they won't seat you until your reservation time. So it is a mass exodus of people and they clean the tables and seat the next group. They are only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Everything is served family style and all food comes out promptly. You can ask for refills. There is a limited beer and wine list and a small cocktail selection. You can take leftovers home. Meal comes with choice of appetizer; ham or chicken (Friday nights they have chicken fried steak as well); and sides as well as desserts or if you pay a bit more, premium desserts.

It is a fun experience and worth the drive. Would have given them a five star if the chickens hadn't been on a diet.
