Classy downtown San Jose location in the Westin Hotel. This is the site of the historic Sainte Clare Hotel and the old sign is still on the building- very cool. We usually go to diner here while attending a theater performance in San Jose. The Italian food is excellent and what you would expect in the local regions of Italy. For two to three weeks a month the restaurant features a Passporto experience which focuses on a region of Italy. The taste of the region for a fixed price is a good choice. The service is always good and the manager usually comes around and greets guests and chats with them which is a nice touch. Prices are increasing over the last few years and cocktails are expensive.

We hosted our Awards Dinner at the Westin Hotel catered by Il Fornaio on March 21st. Our Experience from start to finish was amazing! Tami Rowe, Catering Sales manager, was extremely responsive, professional and friendly. She made sure all of our special needs were taken care of. She is truly wonderful to work with. KUDO’s to their Chef and Culinary team for taking care of all our last minute requests. And for an excellent dinner. The food was fresh, delicious and served hot. The short ribs were so tenor and yummy and the butternut squash made for an excellent vegetarian option, As a matter of fact, we had many guests select this option even though they weren’t vegetarians. The service from our Caption Abraham and his team Jorge, Sandra, Rossana, Orlando, Mariah and Leslie was excellent. They all made sure we well taken care of. I especially loved that no one at a table of 10 had to wait for their dish to be served, they completed a table ad moved on to the next. They ensure our water, wine and coffee were always filled. They were so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend hosting an event with Il Fornaio and the Westin San Jose.

It had been many years since my last visit to Il Fornaio but I’m pleased to see the food quality has been maintained at a high level. Starting with the awesome bread, the other courses are fresh and super authentic.

My visit was a business/celebration lunch. The menu is in Italian, so my host did the explanations. The service is excellent and friendly. The servings are nice. Because it is fine dining, the prices are on the high end, but it was a very nice experience. The dress was from casual to business. We sat afterward to visit and were not rushed out. It was a wonderful treat.
