Description: In 1912, at the bend of Forest Avenue, 23 year old Joe Jahraus opened the Laguna Lumber Company, he and his father(cigar maker, first postmaster and real estate agent) built the beautiful French Normandy building that is here today. Prior to the lumberyard opening, building supplies needed to be dragged in by mule or floated in on the tides, and therefore, Laguna Beach had less than three hundred permanent residences. After the lumberyard opened, the area began to grow at unprecedented rates, transforming it from a tent town into a thriving city. Laguna Lumber operated for seventy three years, sixty two of them in this location and its' architecture, influenced by Joe's tour abroad in World War I, is one of the most significant influences on the town's aesthetic. Half timbers, mud walls and shingled roofs grace many of the downtown storefronts and homes throughout the city because of this landmark. Today, 384 Forest is home to Lumberyard - a contemporary American restaurant.

Good food and reasonable price. We had soup and a sandwich for lunch as we really did not want much. It hit the spot.

Best filet mignon’ ever. Also got the porterhouse steak which was awesome and both cooked to perfection. Scalloped potatoes were done in a stack and very good as well as the broccoli spears. Wines are extensive as well as a full bar if wanted. Recommended reservations on busy nights like Friday or Saturday. We were able to just walk in and get a seat but we were fortunate it wasn’t a busy night. Prices are on the high side and recommend you have a c note before entering. Most entrees are 30 and above. But well worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

Nice place but if you want the details on any menu item I hope you got a readable menu. Thechicken pot pie is good and the burger too. Get in early for a seat in the bar. Great for a preshow dinner. Walk to the Playhouse.

Even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, they seated us immediately. The onion soup was perfect-not too watery or overly salty. Caesar salad was average. Meatloaf was really good, with the outside of the loaf lightly charred. The tarter sauce for the fish and chips seemed to be very heavy on garlic. Crème brulee was a little jiggly under the crust with very tart raspberries. Service was on point. Prices are geared towards special occasions. Portions are large.
