Take the time to drive to La Jolla to watch the sea lions for free! We had a late brunch at Duke’s which was excellent. Many other breakfast places nearby as well.

We visited at sunset, so beautiful and picturesque, words can’t even explain it. Then the sea lions on the beach were so entertaining we almost forgot to watch the sunset happening right behind them! So fun to climb around the rocks with them and watch them rolling around in the waves. My two teenagers were awestruck and thought this was the coolest experience they’ve ever had. Great memories were made here and I hope we’re lucky enough to return someday!

La Jolla Cove is worth a stop to see wildlife in its natural setting. Parking can be an issue, but worth the search for a spot!

Being from Minnesota, I can certainly understand why people came to California and wanted to stay! The weather and natural beauty are breathtaking and wonderful. The only problem is that SO MANY people came here/come here!
We were fortunate to stay in an Airbnb close by, so we were able to walk to the Cove. Traffic and parking both appeared to be insane. The coastline was literally crawling with people, both up on the coastal walk and down at the water's edge.
It was fun for our kids/grandkids to explore the tide pools, watch the sea lions, chase the waves, and dig in the sand. It would have been even better with a few hundred less fellow travelers doing the same thing at the same time.

Seal watching and beautiful neighborhood. Great for kids! Second visit here and love to watch the seals play in the water. They are beautiful and it's amazing to a part of nature in its true form.
