We stopped in here on our way to the safari park and found it to be a nice stop. A super view of the ocean and it was not very crowded early on a Wednesday. It is fairly small in comparison to other aquariums I’ve been to but still nice.

Asked questions of the SCUBA diver feed the fish in the large tank. This is great for school age kids. Plan at most 2 hours to see everything, but a good visit.
Great view from back deck and fun solar energy demo.

$18 admission, sits on top of hill with view of La Jolla Cove. Tanks have a good variety of sea creatures, but most impressive was the large kelp forest tank. Sharks and rays were nice too. Well done for a smaller type aquarium. Gift shop is quite impressive. Worth a visit if in the area.

Made the mistake of coming here the day before Easter. Very crowded which is certainly no ones fault. This is a good, small aquarium. It is though fully planned out but some exhibits were pretty small and hard for more than two people to view at once. I enjoyed the fish nursery it was great and and well explained. The many species of fish inherent to Southern Cal were very beautiful and colorfully interesting. Admission is pretty average at $18.

While not as extensive as the aquariums in Monterrey, CA or the Shedd in Chicago, this facility does a marvelous job in presenting the wildlife. Children of all ages loved the exhibits, including the hands-on energy generation activities and the tide pools filled with touchable animals.

The gift shop is also excellent- a wide variety of items, and reasonable prices. We wished we could carry more home!

Pros:
Small enough for families with small children
Huge variety of healthy animals in well maintained environments
Hands-on activities for children

Opportunities for improvement:
We only wished there were more! Great experience all around!
