I was disgusted by what I have seen at this zoo. To start you can feed the animals without any staff supervision (giraffes and deer) and I witnessed things being fed that are defiantly going to lead to health problems but visitors think this is ok as there are no signs saying not to feed.
You can freely enter the goats enclosure. No staff around once again I whitnessed candy being fed to BABY goats ! And children chasing the goats to pick them up and the goats are scared of them .
The pony ride was heartbreaking . Ponys (Shetland pony sized but not Shetland ponys ) attached by the nose to metal bars in a circle. Children up to the age of 7 (some quite big kids) sit on them and one of the workers drags the metal pole basically pulling these poor ponys by the nose with children that practically weighing the same as them as passengers.
The cages are a discusting size with large monkeys and an enclosure no bigger then 3 meters squared . The big cats are basically being abused in the way they are kept . This place either needs someone who actaullu cares about animals to make new enriching enclosures or to be shut down !

My young daughter loved it as you can get quite close to the animals. Friendly staff. I'll be going again!
And to the lady who commented recently that they don't watch what people are feeding the animals ( she "saw" ice cream) They do not allow you to feed them with outside food you bring or from the snack bar, you can purchase banana s and/or an ice cream CONE that acts like a container for seeds/pellets for feeding (so there's no waste and litter). That commenter should have paid some attention!!!
I do wish the enclosures were bigger for them, but there's a lot of staff making sure they are doing well (plus all the behind the scenes work and care).

A nice selection of animals with some you can feed. Kids enjoyed it. Some animals had nice big areas but some of the enclosures seem a little too confining. If the animals/birds all had nice big spaces it would be 5 out of 5.

Little nice zoo in the middle of the country not too far from Barrie. Very good for children and it is nice how close you get to some animals.

We visited the zoo Aug 9/17 with our 2 year old daughter. We got there at about 945 (it opens at 930) and didn't have to wait more than 2 minutes to get in (we hurried in the parking lot so we didn't have to wait behind the day camp kids bus)
For $43 we had 2 adults, our daughter and got the food to give the animals.

Although there are some definite run down, tired looking parts of the zoo, it was overall a great experience to be so close to the animals. we were within 5 feet of tigers and lions. My daughter hasn't stopped talking about feeding the giraffes, which was the coolest thing I've done in a long time too. It all depends on the time you are in the giraffe area though, because when we left the park and when we drove past the next day the giraffes were not at the front where people could feed them, so it's all a luck thing it seems.

The show was a nice way to be up close to some animals as well and had some neat facts about the animals they were showing. Though out of respect for the other toddlers and children there; remind your children if they're taller they don't need to be in the front row, if there are shorter children trying to see.

Overall we were there for a little over 2 hours and saw all the animals, the show, fed the giraffes (and monkeys, lemurs, goats etc) and had ice cream and we were still back in the truck in time to nap.

I wouldn't drive to Elmvale specifically for this zoo, but since we were in the area it was a great way to spend a few hours.
