The island is fantastic for those seeking a less commercialised island holiday. There are many possible activities involving nature, history, culture, beaches, hiking, swimming and interaction with the local people. These range from physically challenging to very relaxing depending on your preference.

The location of the guesthouse is well-considered, being central in island and hence forms a good base from which to access all areas. This is important on Kythera because if you like beaches, it allows you to easily move to whichever side of the island is sheltered from the prevailing wind. The guesthouse is also at relatively high elevation and therefore offers excellent vistas from the various balconies and terraces, making for particularly good sunsets and star views.

The accommodation is light, clean, elegant and very comfortable. We felt at all times safe and relaxed.

The hosts strike a perfect balance of being attentive while still granting privacy. They even offered us samples of some delicious local products. What particularly impressed me was Albert's transparency regarding the effect of the recent fire, before I booked. The fire has indeed affected the immediate surroundings of the guesthouse as well as other areas of the island, but this is part of the natural cycle in any dry climate - the landscape will recover quickly and anyway the vast majority of the island was not affected. Therefore the scenery and opportunties for hiking and exploration are not really diminished - we still not manage to see everything in a 3 week stay.

We hope to visit again soon!

A beautiful and elegant hotel on a magnificent island. Everything we hoped it would be: friendly, clean, calm and full of light. We had a splendid view of the sea from our suite and magical sunsets every evening. Wonderful memories, we certainly hope we'll be able to go back one day!

We arrived after the fire that destroyed a significant part of the island. Albert had already informed us - with pictures!!!- about it. Even though the fire had arrived next to the guesthouse, the scenery was still excellent for our vacations. The suite was beautifully decorated, the veranda was spacious and inviting and on top of everything, our children loved the place so much that we had trouble getting them ready to go to the beach, as they loved staying in their room...We have already booked for next year!

We love Kythira where we were several times and now we've found the most wonderful guesthouse. It's a haven of peace, really tasteful and most charming. The Suites and Studios are spacious and comfortable, the design is superb and most spectacular are the patios. The location is perfect in the middle of the Island with great views over the countryside to the Sea. After a short stroll you are in the village Arionadika where you've to visit the genuine Kafenion or you walk to the small mediaeval village Pitsinades. In different villages you find traditional Tavernas for a relaxing dinner. This summer we were there when a huge bush fire raged over the Island. The house and gardens werde not concerned but the surrounding countryside was partial burnt. We're confident that nature will recover in short time. The unique hosts, Anita and Albert, are helpful in every way. They have created a true paradise on a marvellous Greek Island. At all events we hope to be back there next summer.

I stumbled across this Tradional Guesthouse by chance when I was looking for a holiday rental in Greece. Before coming to Kythira I had never heard of this quaint and peaceful Island which is unspoilt by mass tourism. I am so glad we have found you. Xenonas was everything we were looking for in a holiday apartment. It was part of a beautiful stone building set amongst interesting vegetation and cypresses, decorated and furnished reflecting nature's colours. A lot of thought has gone into this place. It almost had a Tuscan feel. Albert & Anita were great hosts. On arrival we were welcomed like old friends. The apartment was very comfortable and spotlessly clean; chilled bottled water, olive oil from their own production and Nespresso coffee capsules were very nice touches. Our rooms were serviced daily which was also much appreciated.
The village Aroniadika is easily reached by foot where you find a well stocked supermarket, a nice café and restaurant.
If you are seeking tranquility in magnificent surroundings, do not hesitate to come here. We'll be happily back.
