Highly recommended. You will enjoy the delicious seafood and amazing service for dinner, not to mention an equally amazing breakfast. The food is absolutely top notch. The rooms are renovated and stylish. Onsen has a great view. Easy access to all the tourist attractions of Matsushima. And the cost performance is very good. For more, check `hiddenjapanguide.com`

I spent a night here in Oct. 2017. Arrived after 2pm & immediately went on a walk to nearby island. 200¥ charge to use the bridge but it was a nice outing. Less than. 10 min. walk from the hotel to bridge. From the island you can see other beautiful islands as well as looking back at the hotel.

Service was spot-on although we didn’t require special services. The public onsen is on the smaller size, but overlooked the ocean, as did our room.

The food, dinner & breakfast, were fabulous. We thought the chef did an excellent job. Dinner included a whole (spider?) crab.

Since the hotel sits on a protected bay, there are no waves and it is extremely tranquil.

Catch the sunrise in the morning for some beautiful shots of the sun rising from the ocean.

I’d like to go back again real soon!

We stayed as a couple at Komatsukan Kofutei for 2 nights. Matsushima is one of the three scenic views of Japan, and this stunning ryokan is the perfect place to experience one of the most scenic places in Japan.

The staff are extremely polite and hospitable. This is the best service in true Japanese style. Some are f the staff speak English well, and we muddled through with our basic Japanese.

This hotel is also an onsen with both outdoor and indoor hot baths, both with spectacular views of the bay. Lovely to relax in the soothing warm water after a cold day in the rain.

Our room on the 4th floor had utterly stunning views of the bay and the famed pine tree islands. We simply stared at the view from the huge window of our large, traditional tatami room for hours soaking up the views....

We chose half board which includes breakfast and dinner. The food was simply amazing. Kaiseki style degustation with wonderful seasonal autumnal ingredients such as chestnuts, woodland mushrooms, hairy crab, and Sendai black beef shabu shabu hotpot. Dinner each evening was a sumptuous 2 hour affair, followed by a private onsen which can be booked at reception. Our rooms were made up with futons while we were at dinner, so that we could collapse for a well earned sleep. Utter luxury.

I can highly recommend this wonderful ryokan to anyone looking for a genuine luxury a Japanese experience.

Room Tip: 4th floor on bayside has stunning island views

We stay there for acouple of nights. The staff is excellent, they have been very helpful and kind despite the difficulties with the language. We opt for half board, with both typical Japanese breakfast and dinner. The food was good, mainly the fish was very fresh. We also tried both type of private bath that they offer, they are very nice even if a bit small. They are good for two people. The rooms are cery clean and you will receive anice welcome in the rrom with cokies and macha.
They will set up the beds while you are having dinner, so during the day the room will function as a sitting room.

Room Tip: It is best to ask for a room with the sea view

We loved out time here so much we added on an extra day and canceled other plans! The service was fantastic and we don't speak Japanese. The food was out of this world, fresh, plentiful, and served with grace. Our room looked out over pine trees to the bay and islands. Very romantic, peaceful, and relaxing. The baths were great. We used the common baths and private. We lost a camera bag in a Kyoto hotel and the staff helped us recover it and have it sent to our final destination in Japan. The staff also helped us find a (somewhat) English speaking driver to take us out for a day of exploring nearby communities, including Ishinomaki. .Absolutely loved this place.
