We stayed in the new Hanwha Resort wing. It was quite quiet when we stayed recently perhaps it cater more to Summer vacation goers. The buildings are connected and long. Breakfast at building/section 6, so if you are at the other end, can be quite a walk. There is also a big convenient store (CU). Every other facilities (spa, pool) is payable. You need a car to go there and also around the area.

I like to open my balcony door a little for some fresh air but it was noisy especially at night when it's near the fountain (main entrance to hotel). The heating facilities does not seems to work in the room. Room was big for 2. The place did not feel cosy or warm (feeling) in general, could be just a personal opinion.

Balcony comes with laundry stand, could be useful if you stay a couple of days. But probably is better to dry indoor as the air was drier in the room. My shirt stayed as wet overnight due to high humidity outdoor.

The resort is not a place to stay indoor, attractions were generally around 15-20 min drive radius. There is a water park in front of the resort which I was told only open in summer.

Breakfast gets crowded around 8am, so plan to do early at 7:30 or late at 9am if you do not want to fight with tour groups. Quality of food is good and quite a few vegetarian diet options.

Room tip: Rooms facing the back seems better and quieter

Our suite has two bed rooms (sort of) and an open kitchenette space in the middle. The second bedroom is just an empty space with no bed or furniture. However, tatami and bedding supplies are provided in the closet. Since only me and wife are travelling, we did not need to use the second bedroom. The kitchenette is very basic with only one cook top and a fridge. I guess they do not expect you to do much cooking here although utensiles are also provided.

The bathroom supplies were also very basic, too basic. They do not even supply bath towels.

Overall, not much positive to write about this so called resort. I would not stay here if we were not in tour. BTW, English is not popular here at all. I had a hard time to operate the air conditioning unit as there is no English instruction at all.

This would be one of my favourite places in Gangwondo. Hanwha Resorts hardly let you down on a vacation but Seorak Sorano is currently the best among them. It still is a resort and you do not have facilities and amenities like a luxury hotel. A few towels and a basic shower-gel is there for the stay but I would recommend bringing your own skin care .
The best part of the resort is the water park(Waterpia) and it is an excellent water theme park suitable for all.
Seorak mountain is a 15 minute drive which is decent and you will probably have everything in the resort to live. Food and culinary service provided by Hanwha is decent and you normally get what you pay for.
I go here every year and I am still willing to go.

Room tip: Try to avoid the rooms near the elevator. They might get noisy.

The difference between the sorano resort and the old resort is unbelievably huge. I went to the old resort which reminded me of the typical cheap youth hostel I used to go as school trips in middle school. It was very clear that the team didn't care at all about the old resort, as the bathroom was dirty and the room didn't have wifi. (NO WIFI IN KOREA!!! WHEN EVEN THE CHEAPEST MOTELS HAVE WIFI, HANHWA OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WANT TO INSTALL IT) Thanks to Hanhwa seorak for this incredibly unpleasant experience, when we hoped to enjoy our trip in the resort. Never gonna come again!
