La Piazza Hotel & Convention Center
Ranked #4 of 14 Hotels in Legazpi
Reviewed June 14, 2016 via mobile

The rooms are simple, the food is average, the service is nothing special. The hotel us a place to sleep and nothing more.
It's located on the outside of the city so going to town costs 200pesos there and back in a taxi or 50pesos in a trike.
If I was returning to Legazpi I would look for some place else to stay with a better location.

After a horrible night in a hotel in Daet, La Piazza proved to be a good choice. Legazpi was our final destination so I booked 3 days here
The rooms were large and nicely furnished. The bathrooms were clean and the hotel itself was well-located. The service was great and the staff were very helpful, providing us with maps, directions, etc.
There was no free breakfast in our room plan but at 200 pesos, the buffet breakfast was a steal! there was even a cook on site that will make your omelet the way you want it!
We had a problem in the a/c in our room. instead of just fixing it or let us suffer, the hotel actually replaced the a/c in our room! what an amazing way to show their attention to their guests!

Visited this city for the first time to attend a cousin's wedding and stayed here. The checkin was fast even though we had a last minute request for an additonal room. It's not your luxury hotel but it clean, quiet with very friendly staff. Food is not your typical hotel price either so that was bonus. Plus you get this priceless view of the great Mt Mayon. There is nothing like it.

Nice view of
the volcano but for everything else not good. I will say after we did complain the staff did try to help.
Room small, basic,noisie, smelly,
Customer service could have been better.
Some of the staff were great.
The Chinese restaurant in the hotel was not good . Some of the food was ok but the staff !!
The only other place to eat in the hotel was a type of bar and as the hotel is iin the middle of nowhere you are stuck.

I rated La Piazza as an average hotel but i would say that it is worth going back to this place.

We arrived very wet because Bicol region has a very unpredictable weather. We almost did not make it to Legazpi airport because when we got there the weather was really bad with heavy rains and so much clouds resulting to poor visibility. But our PAL pilot was able to land on the second attempt which we were very grateful because the other option was to go back to Manila.

La Piazza picked us up and upon reaching our hotel we tried to check in early but the hotel was a little bit full probably because flights were cancelled after our landing (how lucky we are) due to bad weather. The reception personnel were very courteous though we would have been really happy if we were able to get our rooms earlier than the standard check in time of 2pm. Finally we were showed in to our rooms which are very simple. They still use keys, no refrigerator on standard rooms but i would say that the bed was just fine since i was able to have a good nights sleep. I think the deluxe rooms have better accommodations and bigger beds and a ref too. Whats important though is that they clean the rooms everyday change the sheets towels and provide two bottles of water as well as bath soaps and tissue. They have cable as well as wifi too. Hot showers are ok too. However i just noticed that the towels that they provide should be replaced as in they should buy new ones.

Breakfast is very limited though i would prefer more fruits and vegetables. Its ok but can be improved.

We were able to arrange a provincial tour in legazpi inspite of the very stormy weather we braved the wind and rain and went on with the tour. I liked the cagsawa ruins, the lignon hill, the skyline tour but disappointed too since it was too rainy and cloudy Mayon was out of sight. We also went to an old church but bicol has a lot of old churches and im sure its all very nice and historical. Part of our tour also was our lunch and we were able to eat bicol delicacies and the food was really delicious and very cheap just 250 for eat all you can.

The next day we went to Misibis Bay Resort and this is a high end resort. By this time the weather got better and the sun was out though we just had a day tour, we had a great time here. The lunch buffet was a lot and really good. The pool was really nice but water was really cold. The beach area was ok but i wouldnt dare swim. The shower room that day tour visitors use should be improved.

Finally on our last day as we were near boarding our plane, suddenly Mayon cleared up and showed itself. Wow everybody started taking pictures. As i found out, some visitors have been there for more than a week and Mayon just showed itself on that day. So i would say going to Bicol is really worth it. There are a lot of places to go and visit and i would probably go back again. As they say summer is the best time to go.
