We come to this Hotel more than 30 years already. In the meantime the improvement has been huge. At the begin it was “just” a Lodge but the View to the Lake Taal and Volcano was always overwhelming. Now the complex has been growing to big hotel complex. For our taste almost to big.
This time we have booked for a 2-nights weekend package. There was a daily Bkfst included and one lunch or dinner. We were not so lucky with the room we have got because there was a big event ongoing and the rooms with a lake view occupied already. So we’ve got a room facing the street instead.
The positive:
- Very good location of the premises along the Rim of Tagaytay with a scenic view to the Lake Taal.
- The interior fit out is spacious and luxury.
- The choice of food is satisfactory.
- Service personnel is friendly and accommodating.
- The ingredients are fresh and authentic.
- Nice live entertainment with “unplugged” music and local native dance performance.
The negative:
- The rooms facing the street are not isolated and you can hear the traffic noise whole night.
- The rooms are spacious although it has basic furniture and bath room features only.
- Complicated Wi-Fi login, code is changing every day
- It takes a bit long until the food is served
- The waiters are not very skilled to serve wine
- The rate is overpriced compared to other hotels

Booked 2 Bedroom Deluxe Suite for 6 adults and 4 small kids! It was a peak season that time, we were given one Room at first and waited for the other one. My nephews are all getting fussy, we cannot go outside as it was cloudy and drizzling. Lastly, the other room was given past 6pm. Hotel beds are comfortable, Bathroom was spacious, toiletries are fine. We went to sleep early to watch the sunrise and to see Taal Volcano in the Taal Lake. Best part for the kids was the nearby skyranch and for me was the relaxing Spa!

The hotel itself is very nice however there's quite a few hit and miss with the service not sure if it is because it was a peak season when we were there. Here are some of our experience in the hotel.

1. Check-in service was quite easy, the lady in the front desk tried her very best to accommodate our request to upgrade our room with a balcony.

2. Bar at the lobby - me and my husband went to the bar in the lobby to get a few drinks (shots) before going for dinner, it took the waiter 15 mins to serve us our tequila shots, apparently there was no shot glass available and they have to get it from somewhere.

3. Taza - we went for dinner in Taza, ordered a bottle of wine, the waitress struggled for a good 10 mins to take out the cork from the wine. At one point we thought she will drop the whole cork inside the bottle. The food was ok, apart from the cork incident service was ok.

4. Spa - very nice

5. Room - it was clean, very nice view unfortunately you will not be able to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the balcony as the music from the nearby establishment is so loud plus people in the garden trying to take photos of Taal are equally noisy.

6. Coffee shop - we went for coffee in the lobby again took quite a long time to serve an espresso coffee and when they brought the coffee no sugar, milk and teaspoon came with it

It is a nice hotel, unfortunately, the staff seemed to be very young and they need to do more training.

This is my second stay in Taal Vista and my fiance's first time. We liked our stay. We liked the king size bed, we liked the clean and spacious toilet, we loved the overall experience. Areas for improvement though is the breakfast buffet. There are quite a few choices but should be improved. We only stayed overnight but it was worth it.

Taal Vista Hotel is a trademark hotel in Tagaytay. Whenever a balikbayan relatives or friends visited us in Manila we always tour them in Tagaytay and Taal Vista hotel is always a hit for them. Cool weather, safe place to stay, relaxing ambiance and sumptuous filipino dishes. From breakfast, to mid-morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack and dinner. After dinner activity is usually gazing through the stars from Taal Vista's outdoor grassy's garden. They also have an exclusive entrance to the Skyranch if you are staying in the hotel. Comfortable bed, clean beddings, some rooms have bathtub others don't. Overall it was relaxing!
