I visited Jasmine family lacquerware today. It is a real family business.

They were infinitely patient and on of the sons explained the entire process with examples. It was really a 20 minute private class.

There was no pressure to buy; there is a small well stocked showroom and I bought a beautiful little box for myself. Which they wrapped so well.
I,m only sorry it’s so far from New York or I would be a regular customer

Thank Doris K

Family very friendly to provide explanations on lacquareware process. We enjoyed the explanations very much.

Shop is small with a lot of options to choose from. Prices are very reasonable. Designs are more traditional with characters.

This is a great family business. Our host gave us plenty of his time to demonstrate how they make their lacquerware products. There was little selling pressure and the prices are quite reasonable given the amount of effort and skill that goes into production. And buying from the shop ensures all proceeds go to the family.

We went on the advice of a friend to see their collection of old laquerware. Really incredible shop that has been run by the same family for generations. They have an excellent collection of older traditional pieces. They also have sone incredible new pieces that one can watch being made. All pieces are signed by the family. Prices here were also the best we found. After hunting around to see many other shops, we ultimately decided to come back here and stick with our friend's referral. We left with three older pieces in the traditional red and black and one stunning new piece. So happy with our new treasures.

We were picked up by one of the Jasmin family members on the street and were first not considering to go, because we are not really lacquerware fans. Finally we went with him and it turned out to be a very interesting stop, with patient explications of all the different production steps and observing the family members doing them one after another. We had no pressure to buy at the end and were even offered water and some fruit. Would recomend it to give it a try if you ever are approached by a stranger with a yasmine card.
