This Foundation supports those who are most in need. We give to local clinics, buy food and other necessities, pay for schooling, and home rehabilitations We also believe in preserving the natural environment of the village. All ingredients for lunch and the cooking class are organically grown in the Materuni village. We pay fair market prices for all goods used during our tours. Again, we give you more opportunity to give back, by allowing you to buy goods made from things found in our soil. You be able to purchase locally made items such as roasted coffee beans, wooden coffee cups, milk jugs, and tote bags made of banana leaves. The trip to Materuni Falls combined with the nice authentic time spent in Chagga village provided unforgettable souvenirs related to welcoming people, beautiful landscape, silence and the discovery of fresh home-made food, the feeling of joy found in simple things. We really appreciate the friendly approach of Eli who made us feel that we belong there. Quality time, serious people, good price!

We hiked to beautiful Materuni Falls with our guide, Deus, and then to the Chagga village for a demonstration of how to make coffe and a lovely lunch. Deus was an incredible guide - very knowledgeable about the local plants and the Chagga culture and very forthcoming with details about his own life. His English was terrific - thank you Deus! After lunch we had a great conversation with the owner of Twanga Touring, Elisante Shirima about how the Chagga people have taken charge of their coffee business and his history with them. All in all a great day. If you can handle hiking for a couple hours with some elevation gain, I would highly recommend this day trip. Thank you!

Great day with Deus, we walked 2 hours from the bus stop to the waterfall and then up to the village. When we arrived they started cooking some nice local food and after that we made some coffee. I definitely recommend this activity if you are going to Moshi.

Delightful people, delightful place. So
Nice to visit a village family that is as welcoming and accommodating as Elisante’s. The food was incredible local food. Absolutely delicious!! The activities such as visit to the waterfalls and coffee tour is amazing to check out! A top notch - reasonably priced tour that feels genuine and local!! It would be rude not to visit!
