We stayed here for just one night in July on our way up north, to spend some short time hiking in the nearby Parc national des Grands-Jardins. It could have been a lovely short stay, but it actually wasn't.
The house this Auberge is located in is really charming, and so was our room. The pancakes for breakfast were delicious. It's located a 20-minute uphill drive from Baie-St. Paul and it seemed to be the middle of nowhere. There are a few other houses, but just note that you there's no possibility to get a meal or a drink without driving back to the village. Not a big deal though.
But what made our night there rather disastrous was that the owners were enjoying themselves playing guitar and singing all night long. We love music, especially live music, but we weren't invited to join – and we were pretty tired from a long day of driving and hiking anyway. Keeping your paying guests awake, all night long, is simply not acceptable at all.

Very isolated B & B. Do your activities and nightlife before coming here. No TV in bedroom or sitting room, but good wi-fi. There is nothing to do if you are not dining here, so I recommend taking the fixed-price meal. It looked good. Nice sitting room , but not usable while others dine unless you want to watch them eating.
Good beds. We had a lovely large bright room with bath.
Some warnings:
(1) This is not an adults-only B & B. One couple brought their toddler. Be prepared for noise and commotion. I was not prepared for this, expecting a quiet stay in the country.
(2) Walls are not soundproof. This is the old manse from the church across the street. If you do not take dinner here, you will be disturbed by loud thumping music from below while dinner is prepared and served.
(3) Be careful going for a walk at night. I went out the front door, down the walk, and fell into a ditch more than three feet deep. I was very fortunate not to be injured. The owner was surprisingly unsympathetic and even angry, seeing this as just another complaint about the place. She even suggested I go stay somewhere else, but would not refund what I had paid for the night.

So my stay was not the happiest. Why do I then still give it a high rating? Give this place a chance. The owner tries very hard. We all have bad days. And the breakfast is wonderful.

If you do go, make sure you see the covered bridge nearby. It is worthwhile.

Room tip: The large room with two beds is lovely.

Katrine and Stephan were the perfect hosts. There family room with the beautiful double bunks was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. And our kids loved that there are cats and chickens and rabbits on site. It is not easy to find a family friendly B and B, but this is one I would highly recommend.

I really don't know where to start. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and so right from the start we felt at home. The house is a one hundred year old farm house, renovated, in amazing condition and absolutely beautiful. You would think they were professional interior decorators by the way the house looks. It's rustic and quaint but at the same time very modern and stylish. The rooms were so comfortable and warm, we slept perfectly. The breakfast was just out of this world, being from NYC I would estimate this breakfast at value of $75 dollars if we were in NY! We couldn't stop eating, and they kept feeding us! My two year old daughter didn't want to leave. The owners were showing her all the animals that lived outside of the house and brought her bunnies and chickens to pet and play with. The house was impeccably clean and warmed by a fire place. The location is perfect. We were just short of 5 minutes away from downtown Baie-Saint-Paul and went there at night to get dinner and drinks. Although so close to downtown, Auberge Carpe Diem is located up a quiet mountain with stunning views. We loved staying there so much that we actually tried to extend our trip just to stay there longer. I wasn't planning on coming back to Quebec, because it's such a long trip for us, but after staying at Auberge Carpe Diem, we will definitely be back!

Room tip: All rooms are beautiful, it honestly doesn't matter which one you choose, as long as you and your traveling companions can fit.

This place is perfect for a ski weekend at Le massif... Breakfast is wonderful. It prepares you for your day of riding or skiing. It is like meeting up with old friends when you walk into this quaint B&B. This will be our new secret hideout....shhh!
