I really don't know where to start. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and so right from the start we felt at home. The house is a one hundred year old farm house, renovated, in amazing condition and absolutely beautiful. You would think they were professional interior decorators by the way the house looks. It's rustic and quaint but at the same time very modern and stylish. The rooms were so comfortable and warm, we slept perfectly. The breakfast was just out of this world, being from NYC I would estimate this breakfast at value of $75 dollars if we were in NY! We couldn't stop eating, and they kept feeding us! My two year old daughter didn't want to leave. The owners were showing her all the animals that lived outside of the house and brought her bunnies and chickens to pet and play with. The house was impeccably clean and warmed by a fire place. The location is perfect. We were just short of 5 minutes away from downtown Baie-Saint-Paul and went there at night to get dinner and drinks. Although so close to downtown, Auberge Carpe Diem is located up a quiet mountain with stunning views. We loved staying there so much that we actually tried to extend our trip just to stay there longer. I wasn't planning on coming back to Quebec, because it's such a long trip for us, but after staying at Auberge Carpe Diem, we will definitely be back!

Room tip: All rooms are beautiful, it honestly doesn't matter which one you choose, as long as you and your traveling companions can fit.

This place is perfect for a ski weekend at Le massif... Breakfast is wonderful. It prepares you for your day of riding or skiing. It is like meeting up with old friends when you walk into this quaint B&B. This will be our new secret hideout....shhh!

I had the pleasure of staying there with my family (2 kids - 7yr / 10 yr) and had a wonderful time. The real allure is the food! As a baseline I'm a picky eater, my kids are picky eaters and we couldn't believe how good the dishes are. To see my kids be served real wholesome food was a relief, especially before a full day of skiing.

The auberge was impeccably clean, especially knowing the are cats in the house. I am highly allergic to cats and never once felt an itch or irritation.

To be honest, this is an excellent place to visit, well deserving of the 4 stars. Definitely be back when skiing at Le Massif.

We spent about a week at the Auberge Carpe Diem, skiing at Le Massif. I have to say that we were spoiled by the hosts in every way possible. To start we enjoyed a brand new bathroom in our room. The bathroom is very small, but its contemporary style makes up for the space. It also matched perfectly the hand-made beautiful wood furniture in the room. The room was spacious and it did not feel crammed even with the two queen size beds. The mattresses were very comfortable, and the pillows were just the right thickness. I loved the unique way in which the whole house/auberge was furnished and decorated. Beautiful floors and furniture with character.
However the best experience was the food. Breakfast was my favourite with fresh home-made crepes and beautifully arranged variety of fruit. The hosts were very serious about pleasing us in every way possible. They made special breakfast for our 7 year old daughter who is anxious about trying new stuff. She had her plain fried egg each morning with an amazing variety of fresh fruit. One morning she got a small bear-shaped crepe which she couldn't resist eating. I should probably write about dinner food too, although I am afraid no one would get to the end of the review. I will only say that they cooked the best Filet Mignon we have ever had. Also, you must try La salade tiede... Amazing experience with beautifully presented gourmet food!
It's all about the hosts' desire to make their guests happy - they go to great lengths to make sure everyone gets the best experience ever. After the first couple of days we felt like we were visiting with friends - the food, the company, the atmosphere - we did not want to leave. They wanted us to have everything we need, so we could relax by the fire after skiing all day. Le Massif is about 20-25 minutes drive and it felt a bit far, but on the other hand we were close (about 10-15 min) to Baie St. Paul and could easily go out for drinks/dinner.

I simply do not see a reason to stay anywhere else if you go skiing in the Massif. The hosts are wonderful (this is a family owned small hotel), always ready to help. The hotel is some 15-20 min from the slopes (depending on road conditions). Food the hosts prepare is awesome, breakfast is complimentary, dinner is a bit expensive but more than worth it. Megre de canard I eat there is the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten it in 4 different countries, including France).
Our rooms was gorgeous, bed is the most comfortable one I have ever slept in (in a hotel).
Overall stay there is a pleasure and if I am back in this area this is the place I will stay at.

Room tip: Get the big room on the second floor with the custom made bed.
