Been here several times. Staff always seem to have a smile of their face and service is good. The decor inside is a little tatty however the food always tastes great and appears to be freshly prepared. You won’t get a pizza here but there is a great selection of pastas/fish/steak to choose and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive even when visiting on a Saturday night. Didn’t feel like we were being rushed either so made it a more relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Definitely will be returning

Had heard many good reports about this place, it says something about its popularity when its hard to book a table.
group of 4 early on a Saturday evening , greeted pleasantly and shown to table allowed to settle and then drinks orders taken, these were delivered promptly accompanied by crisp tempura vegetable strips, nice touch whilst perusing menu.

starters chosen were squid, tempura prawns and 2 varieties of salad with mozzarella, generous portions !
main courses were a pasta dish with spicy sausage and tomatoes, mushroom and sausage risotto which was very rich and creamy , chicken with courgette stuffing wrapped in ham and served with blue cheese sauce and the Ropers chicken which was breaded chicken with ham, asparagus and smoked cheese . both chicken dishes served with vegetable and potatoes and not for the faint hearted as portions very generous .
we shared desserts purely on a greed basis and certainly not need ! the rum and chocolate tart was pure indulgence almost like brownie in a tart case but the winner was tiramisu, we have never had such a light an airy version .
coffee was hot and a good blend .

service was attentive but not intrusive and although it got busy and we knew our table was needed for a later booking we didn't feel rushed or pressured.

we took not of nearby dinners dishes and next time its got to be the fish stew but no starter beforehand as it appeared to be a huge bowl , another dish to try would be catch of the day as this obviously varies.

pasta, risotto , fish dishes, steaks and chicken galore to choose from and not a pizza in sight not even garlic bread or bruschetta !

well worth a visit however be warned there are steps and different levels to floors, it is a converted pub so the toilets are accessed through the "yard"
