“A great experience”
Review of The Cobb

Lovely experience when the weather is fine good access for the disabled provided you can park in the beach car park the place is kept well clean and tidy and the bins are emptied regularly! plenty of places to eat along the front eat in or take away but expensive the Take Away being the cheapest option we tried HERBIE'S and found the staff polite and chatty and everything was cooked to order with decent portions. All in all Lyme Regis is always a favourite and this is borne out by how busy it is Summer and Winter if your not one for busy places and prefer more remote locations this is not for you?

The sea was rough and the tide working against the wind so the conditions were even more so which meant that the waves were breaking over the Cobb to a height of more than 20 feet. Great to watch from a distance but dangerous and a good soaking if you ventured too close. I cannot think why we stand and watch inanimate lumps of rock being pounded by water but we do - primeval perhaps? A must place to visit even if the waves and tide are out.

Had a lovely time for a couple of hours on and around The Cobb. Lots of ice cream options and coffees.

Chunks of stone forming a breakwater aren't a promising subject for rave reviews, but the iconic nature of The Cobb make it a must see at Lyme Regis. On a somewhat glowering and wintery morning with choppy seas breaking over the top it proved to be an atmospheric place for a stroll. Given its age and the frightful poundings that it receives, as some dramatic photos around the town display, it is in remarkable condition. It is a great spot for photos of the town too.

How can you go to Lyme and not walk the Cobb! Risk life and limb on the uneven stones and come down Grandmas teeth. Don't fall off like the Jane Austin heroine. Mooch round and watch the boats. Discourage the children from falling in.
